Jaxson:

Stu1: DNS4me are great

Looks like I can load their DNS settings onto a specific device, so affecting just one device only and not impacting on those I want to keep standard.

eg the central modem/router and other devices can remain untouched, but the devices I want to appear to be located overseas can be loaded with the dns4me dns custom settings.

That actually sounds really good.

I just loaded the settings direct into Apple TV and watch it on there as well as BBC, ITV ect.

Does anyone know if Sky have automatically renewed the deal for people that switched from Igloo?

It was meant to be $19.95 a month for a year then they extended it for another year for everyone...

<bump>

My $49 12 month deal ended so if I can't churn it back I'll be cancelling. $109? Forget about it!

I just went to their page to see what deals they have, is Basic no longer offered as a package? All I can see is Sky Starter.

AFAIK, the telemarketers (who are not Sky) don't have a website. What was Sky Basic is now two packages, Sky Starter and Sky Entertainment. Everyone must get Sky Starter before getting any additional packages. If you get Sky Entertainment, it will be $10 per month with the telemarketers.

I've heard these are limited to 6 months now, and you can't get sky sport package for $39.95 a month anymore?

Last time I had a go at this I got sport HD for $50 / month.

(All blacks via ESPN+ and dns4me for $12/month is now much more attractive, and in very good quality too).

Who's commentary do you get?

On ESPN+ it's usually the host countries.

Oh god. I assume that when it's an Australian broadcast you turn off the sound and listen to the radio? Listening to the likes of Bray and Kearns would do my head in.

Surprisingly interesting hearing the other sides thoughts, given either side is likely to be biased to some degree.

Andrew Mehrtens was the sideline expert for the Australian event recently.

Assuming you have sky only for the sport (still rather unconvinced of any other reason...) then that NZ commentary is worth quite a lot ($50? SKY HD Sport -$12 ESPN+)

ESPN+ doesn't give you the regional games though, like the Super 26 or the domestic my town is better than your town matches.

Nor any Formula 1 etc.

Ha basically ESPN+ is the dumping ground for minority sports ESPN owns the rights to, but that aren't big enough to make their main channels, where they only show sports people care about.
Makes it a perfect loop hole for All Blacks rugby matches.

Went to sign up for the Sky deal and called the number listed in this thread (0800 475 988) but it was disconnected or perhaps in engaged as I tried it half an hour later and it rang??

Because I couldn't get through the first time, I tried the other number mentioned here and spoke with the very helpful Andy. He said he is the manager for door to door sales reps for Sky. He was able to offer:
- Starter
- Entertainment
- Sport
- Soho free with entertainment and sport
- MySky
For $48.99 / month, 6 month contract, 12 month pricing.

Any extras such as HD Ticket, MySky+, multi room etc is normal pricing (didn't ask about Movies).

Contact details are:
Andy Purcell
0800 759 489 or 0274733325

Sounds identical to the original telemarketer special - great!
