I haven't renewed my annual Sky Sports Now subscription. A year ago I paid $299 for 12 months, now it's $499. I understand I got it on sale last time but I just can't stomach shelling our $499 for a pixelated mess.

My wife and I watched the Rugby last night on Stan Sports. The Wallabies/Wales game after it was shown in 4K. Watched a bit of 4K tennis from Wimbledon also. For $20/mth less than than SSN we also have access to Stan's catalogue of entertainment on demand.

Looking forward to Stans Olympic coverage .... 4K ,Live and On Demand plus International channels.

do you still need an Australian phone number?

I just renew my old account when Rugby season comes back around without needing an Aussie phone.

I am unsure if one is needed or not to open an account with Stan.

Wouldn’t Stan’s Olympic coverage be mostly targeted towards Australian athletes though?

I called Sky today and advised wanting to cancel and in the matter of minutes had 25% off for 12 months

Told them too much reality TV crap!

I just came off 25% off in October. I called them and got 20% off 12 months. Good enough for another year

Another year gone by and another phone call to Sky. Immediate answer no waiting. Had the most lovely NZ customer care person who said rather than put me through to retentions that she would be able to offer me 3 deals.

Currently on Sky Sport, Starter and Mysky (20% discount) for $62.39 a month

  1. Same as above 15% discount 12 month contract = $69.71 a month
  2. Same channels as above, instead of 15% discount get Mysky for free, no contract, $67.99 month
  3. Starter, Entertainment and sport with Mysky, 6 month contract at 50% off $55.50 per month

I choose the first one, as previously when sport or starter has gone up during a 12 month contract it doesn't increase till the end. $1.70 a week increase I can live with. The 50% off for 6 months was tempting though! She also asked me about upgrading to the new box and laughed hard when I heard it still had some teething issues.

Just notified by SSN that my annual pass 33% discount ends this month :-(

I won't re sign for another... not watching that much and can sign up for short stints if there's an event I want to see.

Yeah, mine ends sometime in November and I'm not renewing either.

Can't justify that expense. I'll find 'somewhere else' to watch my sport.

They're making a few changes as well - Soho is being rebranded as HBO, which I recall was (briefly) the name of Sky Movies in the mid 1990s:

Agree, I just asked on Facebook Messenger and got this response...

Hello, currently we do not have any Black Friday deals available. Please refer to our website for more information. https://bit.ly/3YPn5cc. ^Roger

So yeah, I'd say it's extremely unlikely now, unless they do a one day sale only (or something similar)
