Unfortunately I think it is a bug or error. More likely it will be 12 cycles added, but someone typed a 0 on the end by mistake.

networkn: If @lightbox were to provide me a free year of service, I can solemnly promise no matter what I won't complain about any billing or service issues at the completion of the term :)

I'll also note here in advance that if it works out I get 360 days, I also won't complain, or EVEN if they give me 350 days!

I checked LB for the first time in about 8 months, not a lot seems to have changed. Limited content and limited supported devices.

Stink, I seemed to have missed out. 

 

We're having our house reclad, so are living in a rental property for 6 months. We just pay for the landlords existing fibre while here, so suspended our broadband with Spark during this time. We do still have our landline with them, as they're redirecting our old number.

 

Our loss is their gain, I guess. We watch Lightbox a lot, so will probably switch to paying customers once our free sub ends next month.

My sister reports she has 121 remaining, so she must have still had a month to go on her free trial. Regardless of whether it's a year or ten, I'll still be pleased if it's legit.

I too have been a Telecom/Spark customer for a long time and was recently considering a change. Now being provided what is effectively a $12.99/30day discount gives me an excuse to stop looking. A win for Spark and me.
Just binge watched 5 seasons of Suits. Guess I could have taken my time.

Looks like they have removed all credits now. Mine was reading 120 spark discounts. Now it is showing nothing. At least they could have communicated with customers about this. Whether it was a bug etc. This is following the other problem, where they had an error that said they were going to charge customers who had credits remaining. Doesn't instill a lot of faith in their billing systems

Hmm, mine now just says current subscription $12.99, then underneath it says Spark discount -$12.99, and next billing amount $0. I'll check again in a week to see if it shows a pending billing amount.

I've just sent a request to Lightbox asking them to confirm what is happening - will update here if I get a reply.  Hopefully the Spark discount is permanent, and they've found a more graceful way to display it :)

I emailed them to ask them the exact date the credit would take me to, so do have a record of that. They did say that their system didn't show the dates on it and they did think it was a good idea that it should. It is difficult with a 30 day billing cycle, as you never know the exact end date of the cycle without counting. Hopefully they do fix their billing system to include this.

That is odd, I was told the  free credit would take me to Thursday, April 14, 2016, and I signed up to the promo on one of the first days. I got that first year, plus the extra 2 months they then gave customers. At least I have got it in writing, so if they do charge me, they can then reverse it.

Interesting! My interpretation is that they've decided to continue the discount for an indeterminate period for some Spark customers, but they haven't decided how long for. It's as if they're trying it out but don't want to officially commit to anything long term right now, so they can discontinue it if they need to. I might be completely off base but that's the impression I get. I started my subscription on 20 January 2015 and from memory I got a 2-month free trial, then added the 12 months from Spark for a total of 14 months, which should have finished by now, regardless of if they are billing in calendar month or 30-day blocks. Yet I am still getting the discount, for which I am most appreciative, so it appears to have been extended beyond the original terms.

 

I had a similar situation with a special data allowance on an old Vodafone iPhone plan. When I signed up in 2009 they gave me 3GB for 6 months, reverting to 250MB thereafter. The 3GB per month actually continued for a good 5 years, although they never communicated to me that it was being extended. I knew several others in the same boat. Eventually they wrote to me about 18 months ago to revoke it, at which point I moved to 2Degrees and now have about 12GB carry-over data built up with them.
