If only all the +1 channels were HD!

If the +1 channels were removed there maybe space  for FOUR HD or even Prime HD  but I'm not holding my breath for either..

The whole regional channel duplications are a little harsh for Satellite viewers, both TV One and TV3, it might be economical from a broadcaster perspective but ideally that is only effective for DTT transmissions where 90% or something of the population will have or have access to the DTT service. letting them go will increase bandwidth, literally anything that moves is just pixels.

I have noted this too but The Shopping Channel has duplications, one on the Mediaworks TP added late last year and there is a SKY one on another TP,

The same goes with Prime, There are the regional channels on the 12707 TP SD then I found out there is a SD feed in the clear on 12157 TP which shares with CNN, GARAGE and other encrypted services. And then let alone the HD channel.

I know this is a bit off topic but what pisses me off is on SKY look at CNN National Geographic Food Channel and many others....they are down scaled to crap low bitrate SD garbage!!! CNN  is a good example, its feed into NZ is HD...look at the result with the downscale it is bloody awful !!!

Scanning Optus D1 with a Sat TV card, there is 1 Prime HD and 7 Prime SD channels.  4 of those will likely be Freeview, but it's a lot of duplication.

That explains how TVNZ gets its breaking news feed from CNN in HD for example the Paris Attacks.

There are 3 regional SD Prime channels on 12707H and 3 empty place holders. The place holders have been there for quite some time.

The major recent change is the addition of DVB based subtitle streams.
