Olympics are coming. I see sky has these rights until 2024 or something like that.

Are any of those third party $49 deal offers still going?

Cancelled today because our $59 p/m deal expires in 1 month. They offered me free sports and movies for 3 months but I declined because I will be in the same situation in 3 months of facing a $100 p/m bill to watch sports.

I will happily sign up again in 3 months (after the stand down) because I think $59 is good value, but it's all I'm prepared to pay to watch sports. Hopefully EPL is back on Sky too.

In the interim I will try Fan Pass and Rugby Pass. Just a shame that Fan Pass doesn't include ESPN :(

$56/mth for 4 channels of FanPass - whats that? about $14/channel/month?  For another $24/month Sky will give you ESPN - thats 2 more channels at $12/channel/month.  And it'll even throw in the Sport pop-up channels for free.  And 12 channels of Olympic coverage too.

*yawn*

Saw an ad last night for "Sports Stories" on Rialto channel 830pm oneday per week.

WTF... I dont want sports crap on Rialto. Put it on one of the _many_ sports channels you have already got.

Whats next... rugby food on the food channel, Ritchie Mc opinions on the great masters on the arts channel, Justin Marshall thought on the british referendum on EU membership.

Annoyed.

Sky doesnt program Rialto.  Suggest that you complain to directly to Rialto rather than ignorantly bellyaching.

How does that actually work? If you sign up again and get the free sports and movies for three months how long do you have to stay signed up? If you can come and go every three months isn't that the same as the $59 deal?

Except I dont give money to Rialto, I give money to Sky.

Sky presumably buy Rialto to sell to me at a profit.

If people arent happy with Sky Rialto Channel they will cancel it and Sky will lose money.

If enough people started to drop Rialto, wouldnt Sky have a word with Rialto about "improving" their product so Sky could onsell it for a profit.

My frustration stems from dispair that all we go on about is Sports. There is a space for it (I have sports), but also nice to have areas that arent sport.

Each to their own.

A.

SBS movies is a pretty good free substitute for Rialto for those who don't mind using DNS proxies.

I think that you meant to say: "I love Sky but not enough to not pay them money"

Whichever way you decide to summarise it, that's not all that there is in this thread.

True

NZers love their sport and don't Sky know it

Still I find it hilarious the moaning about multiroom this, HD pass that, unbundle the channels

Some people are not paying them the money, others only pay if they can get a discounted rate. others don't want to go without sport, so they pay it and grumble about price.

I'm not into sport but have a deal with them that I can't get back if leave, there's things they could do to improve user experience, like does self promos on something people paid to watch really get people to watch more?

I'll stick with them for now and see what happens in future, what services others offer and see if any what changes Sky makes.

That's the point though, it's a monopoly situation.

Where are you going to go to get the sports coverage.

Sorry to go on about Sports, but that's fundamentally the only content you can't sauce from elsewhere (legitimately) presently.
