Surely Sky will do something about fanpass pricing now? 99$/month when you can get the box service for about half that... no thanks

Sky have a fanpass contract offer(6 month term) for $55.99 a month, still a high price considering it's only Sport 1-4.

I'd still prefer the daily option (AB games) and or special events (winter Olympics, commonwealth games, 7s tounaments, world cups)

Why is NZ so obsessed with sport? if New Zealanders didn't like sport so much sky would have already gone under.

Why are you here? You dont like Sky or sport. There is another thread for Sky bashing. Beats me why anyone who has no interest in a subject/company/etc reads and posts in their threads

When you do your census there may be a question on TV viewing preferences...

I'm not doing my census. and how do you know if I like sky television limited or not?

According to replies on their facebook page, eveyone on Basic will be migrated to Starter & Entertainment. They also say to to get SOHO for free you need to be subscribed to Sport or Movies as well

Their obvious mistake is not to include all the public access free to air channels (TV1, 2, 3, Prime, Bravo ...) in *BOTH* the Sky Starter and Sky Entertainment packages.

Those of us with MySky want to be able to both watch and record programs using their MySky device. The only way to do this under the Starter and Entertainment packages is to have both. So nothing has changed for us.

Facebook seems to be riddled with negative feedback, which looks like it's coming from people who don't have or have already ditched sky. Most want sports and want it for next to nothing, which isn't sustainable for obvious reasons.

I ditched Sky because I didn't like the price for what you got, but I would seriously consider going back with this new model only if HD isn't a premium charge.

With the stater package it ticks most boxes for myself, the wife and the young kiddy. Add sports on and boom! Sorted.

The way I read it Sky Starter is the new minimum package. Nothing else can be brought until Sky Starter is purchased.

So can't buy Entertainment package without Sky Starter.

why do people knock Sky for charging for HD yet give Netflix a free pass for doing the same thing.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

It looks like this is mainly a way to make sky sports cheaper. Not sure why anyone would really want the cut down sky basic by itself, unless I guess you can't get freeview HD, and want better quality than freeview SD, but not sure if the quality is much better?

IMO sky should make some dramatic changes with totally new plans. One problem they have is that any changes they make to plans like this, it affects exisitig cusomters and the revenue they get from those customers. But if they brought out new plans, they wouldn't necessarily need to move existing customers automatically to those new plans. Telcos don't usually do this, many will introduce new plans, and grandfather old plans.

I don't use netflix myself, so didn't know they did that. However lightbox doesn't. Also the price difference to upgrade is't that much with netflix is it? PLus netflix is far cheaper to begin with, so people expect IMO that if you are paying a far higher price, that they could throw that in as standard, if you are going to that expense.

Because Sky's mpeg2 dross is substandard and not even fit for transmission (my opinion).

Sky isn't Netflix.

Which is why customers are leaving.

Well for customers who's needs are met by Netflix that is fine. For customers who don't have fast enough internet, want curated channels (Food TV), and different content, or Sports, then Netflix isn't an option.

Netflix works quite nicely on a 7-10meg ADSL connection.

The quality is not the point , both charge for HD and Sky is hammered for it. Netflix isn't

Amazon doesn't charge extra for HD.
