My favourite CG sport so far. The Singles Womens Mens Squash Diving Hammer Throw Doubles...

Honestly, I've said it so many times, TVVZ could have done something great with this and streaming but the execution has been a shambles...

*Edited to make the image not so huge...

As well as the ads what has annoyed me is that they keep changing what they show. Each morning I look through the planner on MySky and record what I want to see then in the evening when I go to watch it half of them end up being different sports I'm not interested in. Have been trying to record the track and field each day but seem to have missed the men's and women's 100m finals. Saw the heats and semi finals, but don't seem to have got the finals so no idea whether they were even shown or the schedule changed and I ended up recording the wrong thing or what.

Description on schedule often rarely meets what is actually on :/

Liking the sync diving. Always a fan fav. But looks like mens long/high jump is sporadic at present. Hope like heck we get to see the girls attempts LIVE!

Facepalm day again

Althetics on 1 channel - but races no kiwis are partaking in. While Val threw her heart out in heats for Shotput

All the while Displaying cycling on guide, really bowls. Displaying bowls, when really wrestling. Then switch to 2x channels of bowls.

Oh dear. And again.

Cycling on 2x channels with head to head bowls online where the older demographic won't work it out

Another example of an inopportune ad break.

Men's mountain biking.  Last Lap.  Kiwis in 1st, 2nd, 4th position.

Uninterrupted footage when this close to the end of the race would be nice...

Flicked to 1, where it was also on. Got to see finish

I have said it before. Whilst I am outraged that Kiwi's competing for medals aren't being Televised, the online content has been of the highest quality if you excuse the ads, which are frustrating and make Sky look positively frugal with theirs.

I have actually appreciated the online service as I have been able to follow the squash games whilst at work, which I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise.

Commented on the exciting finish thread but will repeat here.
Mountain biking final lap a perfect example of frustration. Having invested an hour and a quarter watching the race and flicking between 1 and G live channels when the ads came on, they both went to a break on the final lap with the leader (Gaze) stopping to repair a puncture while second (Cooper) and third (SA rider Hatherly) disappeared into the distance. After the ad break they are half way round the final lap with the two kiwis first and second and the SA rider nowhere to be seen. As was stated above, at least we got to see them crossing the finish line.
I know ads pay for the coverage, but pick your times!

imagine a chunk of the issues are related to a doc I found grabbing advertising contracts. promised 30sec slots and a set number of showings

what really irked me online the other day was 5 adverts begore starting feed. then during was clumps with 3 tv spots for upcoming shows and 1 ad. how the heck is that relevant to justifying fta costing.

For a broadcaster a multi-sport-multi-day event (CG's, Olympics etc) usually ends up as a loss.  A chunk of costs are recovered via sponsorship packs and advertising packs but the [great-white] hope is that it translates to higher audience share in the schedule post-event.  As such it becomes critical for the broadcaster to promote its post-games lineup during the event.  And historically some key shows would be held back from scheduling so that they can commence broadcast post-games - and maximise the audience - although the fast-tracking has largely nullified this strategy.

From TVNZ Sales - care of Screenscribe.

Viewing was strong throughout daytime. The netball reached 243,700 viewers on TVNZ 1 at 11am. The match was also streamed by nearly 7000 viewers (6,934) at the same time – TVNZ’s biggest hour for concurrent plays ever.

So despite all events being livestreamed (and some only available online) the largest number of concurrent viewers is 7,000.  So in this day and age where GZ posters are saying that streaming is now and everyone is doing it only a paltry 7,000 concurrent viewers of an event (including the opening ceremony ?!?) sets a record.

Its seems, IMHO, that streaming is still nowhere near mainstream (just look at NFL viewing for Amazon streamed vs TV etc etc) - and that the overwhelming majority of people are using that antiquated device - broadcast television.

My biggest issue with it is the schedule.

I don't really have an issue with ads (though choosing when to play them could be done a lot better).

I wish there was an easy way to find out what is on and where. Flicking all over the place with a Sky box (Channels 1, 17 and 59?) and the guide information being wrong is not helpful or conducive to good viewing.

I have enjoyed the games though.

Wow. Just wow.

Talk up the pole vaulting. Put a non medal 7s match on 2 channels instead. And 1of them may not be yet to reach her height, but the other is already!

Was the pole vaulting even happening when they had the Sevens on?
