arnies: Pretty disappointing, but it's what I expected tbh. Just a re-skin of Fanpass. Pity they don't offer 1 day, or 1 hour passes to try it out.

To be fair, the big news was that Fanpass that was shackled by no popups, now has all the channels.

Simply search back through the electronic programme guide on the PC/Mac version of SKY Sport Now and click play.

You can scroll back up to 24‐hours ‐ all programmes that STARTED in the last 24‐hours should still be there for you to watch. Please, always check the start date of the programme (not the event, as these times often differ) before relying on this feature, as it's an added extra, and not something we can guarantee.

Big problem with this...

You can click play on a previously aired game, but if you then try to send it to Chromecast, it switches to live only.  I used to use the feature all the time, but now it doesn't work.  Suddenly Sky Sport Now is way less useful to me than Fanpass was 😠

I would log that as it must be a fault.

Whats the visual quality like?. Look like 1080p? Is it smooth with no or little panning judder? Ball sports, is the moving ball ok?

Billyspleen75:

SSN Chat person advised there is no plan to allow the playback feature for phones/tablets/ps4 etc.

It definitely works already on the iOS applications, so while I guess technically it's no longer a plan they probably just need their scripts updating. You can scrub backwards in a program already playing, or jump directly to earlier events from the TV guide.

Wow so many complaints! Some people are hard to please.

Yesterday I had sky sport live 1-4.

Today I have heaps more content on all my devices including AppleTV and I can also playback much of that content from the previous 24 hours via my phone and airplay to my Apple TV. Not on demand yet but hey it’s a major improvement on what I had before. Brilliant!

Half the features and almost double the money of Kayo sports - I get the complaints.

Yes but that is not a nz service is it so you are probably breaking their terms and conditions. But good for you.
I’d rather support sky and their new CEO for making positive change. This is a SSN thread and it is a major improvement so I would rather people concentrate on that.

You're right. For those that want to drop full Sky, they can now have full sport only. I want to see the video quality though

If I signed up with a different email and wifes name, would they track Mac addresses?

The closest they'll see is that it is the same external IP address, which could be as simple as two people boarding in the same house. I wouldn't worry about them 'tracking' anything.

I think it's fair criticism. Sky won't turn their business around by just keeping existing customers -- they need to convince new or returning customers to join.

Some obvious downsides:

- No trial period, or obvious sample videos to test quality. Kayo offers a 14 day trial.

- Can only watch on one device at a time. Kayo is 2 or 3 depending on plan.

- Cannot play an event from the start when you come into it live. SS and Kayo do this.

- On demand video is only on PC.

Not to mention that the sports lineup on Sky isn't at great as it used to be.

For me, Sky needs to be much more aggressive in it's approach.

Start by offering free trails. Yes, most people will use it to watch the All Blacks.. but it just might be enough to convince people to stay subscribed.

It would be nice if they offered a week trial.

I'm tempted to sign up for the 1 year contract but im worried about Sky Sport Now having similar issues with Spark Sport with the ball juddering etc.

For those that are using Sky Sport Now whats the quality like and does the ball judder like Spark Sport?

You can do a week at $20 that's enought to test.

Thats similar to a month of Kayo. I know I could pay for a week, and I might. But Sky really isn't inciting me as much as I would like them to.

This is not a Kayo thread. If it was we would be talking about Kayo not Sky.

But what is the actual video quality like?

Update : Nah not really at the 4.5Mbit video rate they list on their site 😐
