My biggest grump with SkySport Now is that only one device can be used at a time  unlike other streaming sites where up to 3 devices can be be used in the same house. Consequently I  cant watch MotoGP in my room if say my daughter wants to watch another sport at the same time. Surely they don't think everybody lives in a house by themself?  Otherwise would be excellent.

One device? ok. I had it for a week to test. You says its excellent? I found the video to be average at best. Slight jitter, and motion issues. Do you feel it has improved?

Sorry I probably didn't explain properly - I'm not interested in  SkySport Now at the moment until at least 2 devices can be used in one house. Its not worth me changing from ordinary Skysport thru satellite otherwise so obviously cant comment on quality - I'm talking about the package.

[I have read a few pages back, but not all 17]

I really want to watch Bathurst next weekend so I just bought a 7 day SSN sub and tried it on my desktop PC - works great. I'm only watching some old footage of Bathurst at the moment so not sure of the frame rate etc but in trying to get it to my TV or projector I have a problem.

I have an Nvidia Shield with built in CC Ultra (I note that Sky say inbuilt CCs aren't supported)... That's why I subbed today to test it.

I am able to cast to the shield, but the frame rate is awful. I'm not complaining  that it's not 50/60FPS, it's variable and jittery - fast panning has massive jumps in it.

There's no Android TV app I can see so I wanted to find out if anyone has had a good experience casting to a Shield with SSN.

(No, it's not my BB or home network)

Has anyone had good results using a standalone CCU or CC2? Bonus marks if you have also seen the same issues on an inbuilt CC.

I don't really want to drag a PC into the lounge to do it over HDMI - but I fear that may be the only way to make it work.

Cheers - N

I watched league final last night on ssn pass and used kodi with matt huisman add on last night and was perfect. Previously i tried week pass and used built in chromecast but no good at all then used old first version chromecast which was ok but not very good.

Yeah I would use the kodi addons as I always struggle with chromecast (spark sport is not very good for me) on the shield; when they finally get of their asses and produce an app for Android TV then that should be the default approach.

I tried it a while back for a week.  It should have been an ideal test. Fibre, ATV4 app, cabled TV to router. It looks great, but its not smooth. Its not so much like a low frame rate, but that every 10 frames, one is missing. Thats what it seems like. It was like that when I tried Fanpass a a couple of years back. Id rather have 720p and butter smooth than I assume 1080p and not. Enough to be annoying, especially as its probably an optimal setup

I was also a Fanpass subscriber for ~6months before I moved to Kayo. Same as above, ATV 4K app the picture looked fine without motion but as soon as the camera started panning or something moved on screen it was a blocky mess. As far as I can SSN is just Fanpass with access to the full nine channels. They haven't done anything to beef up the back to provide a better experience so i won't be returning until they do.

Sky satellite decoders spit out in 1080i/30 max, so I have it set to 720p/50 which seems to be way better (clearer, more fluid).

Are you all saying that Sky's streaming feeds are 1080p/50 max so in theory should look better than their satellite feed?

If so, that would be a bonus no?

Can the stream be set to 720p/50?

Thanks for the suggestions to try Matt's add-on. I just set it up and it seems perfect on my shield now at 1080p/50 8mbps. There's still something a little funky with super fast pans (Looks like it's the encoding profile to me) but on the whole it's excellent - it's not inconsistent at all.

For any regular SSN users, whats the deal with full replays? It seems pretty sparse. MotoGP was on a few days ago, and the three 45 minute races is now 25 minutes of highlights. NZ timezone makes it a need not a want for full replays

I am a regular Sky Sport Now subscriber and there are sod all replays. Basically just All Black matches which is stupid as most of those matches are on at a decent time. Just have highlights on demand which is crap. I am a football fan and the matches in Europe like La Liga, champions league etc don't have any matches on demand. The football matches are shown on demand through Bein Sports connect app which Sky Sport Now subscribers don't have access to. Plus a couple of weeks ago they had EFL Cup games including Manchester United's game on Bein Sports connect only. Only Satellite TV Sky Sport subscribers get access to Bein Sports connect which I am totally pissed off about. Just think that is crap and unfair. Complained to Sky about it but they don't do anything about it. I would of thought other football fans who are subscribed to Sky Sport Now would feel the same and complain about it too.

Good points. if SSN was to be a genuine Full Sport app, its isnt if you get few replays. If they fixed the low fps issues, and had full replays, yes many will switch, but they would get many back. Video quality isnt there yet, although its look great on my iPads, not on TV. Fanpass was cobbled, SSN is also cobbled but a bit less so.

Needs a bit more work

Yeah. I mean if they could give SSN subscribers access to Bein Sports connect for free, it means all the football will be on demand. So the other matches like the rugby, league etc could show up on the SSN app itself. Then it would be a decent app. I also am subscribed to Spark Sport and their app is way superior. All their content like the F1 races and the English Premier League matches are shown on demand as soon as they finish. There is also various other content on there like interviews, highlights etc. Plus another good feature is that you stop watching a premier league match at let's say the 60th minute. Then when you turn it on again, it gives you the option of starting from that point or starting from the beginning. I know Spark Sport have got a lot of flak but there is no denying the app is a lot better than Sky Sport Now. If Sky Sport Now can be like that, Sky would be onto a winner.
