Did anyone catch the Community Shield game over the weekend on demand?
If so how was the quality/experience ?
So Sky has the schedule up for the 'new' channel. On Sunday morning they just have an 8.5 hour event called 'Matchday'. No individual games. So if you want to watch a single game you need to record the whole damn 8 hours and somehow fastfoward to the right time.
Plus it looks like the Fulham v Liverpool and Spurs vs Southhampton games in in a 'goal rush' format, so you won't be able to see those games uninterupted -- it will pivot over to show goals from the other game etc.
This isn't going to be a fun Monday for Sky support unless they change this.
Edit: Okay well it looks like they have the other games on other channels. So way to series link yet.
Weirdly the popular games (Liverpool / Spurs) are in the combined TV listing. :/

Yeah I have been searching for a way to individually watch the Saints/Spurs match as I am a Saints fan. I have no idea how to get to just that match in full.
After Spark's excellent coverage and user experience over the last few years, I am really, really disappointed with the way this is being done.
I can't even find an official stream to just play the Saints game!!!
Sort it out, Sky!! This is the sort of thing that will cause me to cancel my subscription altogether (after 20+ years) and look to other online sources.

We've had Sky to watch the football since the 90's (except for the years living in the UK) but I cancelled it three weeks ago. I probably should've waited another couple of weeks to see what the coverage was like, but so far there has been nothing to convince me to stay. They have offered a 20% discount if I sign for 12 months but that's still $61 and put up with their linear model.
Spark Sport has been excellent the last couple of years. There has been the odd issue with delaying the game as a replay and the odd video quality issue, but overall I was very happy.
In comparison the coverage I get of Sweden's third tier is first class. Every game streamed live, every game available for full replay within minutes, highlights of every game, superb video quality, and a reasonable (although not brilliant) ATV app which allows the ability to pause and rewind during games. All for $25.
The only way to convince Sky to change is to leave them and so I'm looking at other options now.

Glad you're able to easily watch your son play from the other side of the world. Must be pretty cool.

It is, and all it took for them to bypass their requirements to be living and working in Sweden was an email to explain the situation. The supplier could not have been more helpful.
JarrodM: Sky have no control over the premier league channel (which is produced by Premier League Productions) and from my experience they produce a whole match day from 1 hour pre the first game til 1 hour after the last game each Saturday. Only the spurs game will be goal rush - as that’s the only game of those three when there are also other games on. Sky could definitely split the guide into the different games, so you aren’t recording 8 hours worth. Looks like it is the same for the Sunday games with just one entry on the guide for Manchester United/Brighton & Manchester City/west ham games.
Back when beIN sports had the rights and they had the same 24/7 channel you could watch the non goal rush feed on their app. Be disappointing if sky didn’t offer this.
Yeah they should just split the games. Basically with Spark you could watch the game you care about with a click of a button, either live or delayed. You could arrive 30 mins late, click the game and click 'Watch from start'. Sky need to offer this. (and split games on linear Sky so its possible with MySky).
I'm hoping the new SSN allows this - which was supposed to launch this week.
I've just set up a remote record for the game I want to see. On the online guide it tells me the game is on a certain channel at a certain time.
I clicked the remote record button, got the "success" message and immediately went to the planner on my sky box to see if it had set up to record.
No. It's recording a different game, with my chosen game in "goal rush" as a part of the footage of two different teams.
Absolutely sh!thouse.
Such a shame Spark lost the rights, as they had a good service after the first few months.

IainD: I’ve followed this tread for the past month and can’t believe the utter rubbish that is being spouted on here, if you don’t like the coverage Sky are doing don’t subscribe. Do some old fashioned research first, get yourself a decent football app which tells you when the games are actually being played ( some tell which Sky Channel the game is on ) and get with the times. If your going to watch via Sky internet apps that’s your decision but don’t bitch and moan when coverage doesn’t suit you , it was YOUR decision to go the modern way for YOUR convenience.
I’ve managed to sort out when , which channels the games are on easily, originally for example Saturday mornings opening game was on 2 channels, that has changed in the past day to just Sky Premier League ( channel 58 ).
I think you're missing the point slightly, we've had years of a very good streaming service provided by Spark. A lot of us don't have/want to subscribe to a Satellite service, so the comparison is coming from Spark Sport vs Sky Sport Now/Go, based on this we are going backwards to what we had previously.
There is no other service we can use to stream EPL in NZ.

This is literally the same problem when a bunch of stuff got stripped out of Sky like F1. We still needed Sky for V8 Supercars, but now we needed to pay for an extra streaming service.
People wanted competition without thinking what the fragmentation risk would be, and they got it.
