I checked the guide just now and thankfully it seems they have split the games on Sat night out from the 8hr 'Matchday'.

I think you're missing the point slightly, we've had years of a very good streaming service provided by Spark. A lot of us don't have/want to subscribe to a Satellite service, so the comparison is coming from Spark Sport vs Sky Sport Now/Go, based on this we are going backwards to what we had previously.

This is literally the same problem when a bunch of stuff got stripped out of Sky like F1. We still needed Sky for V8 Supercars, but now we needed to pay for an extra streaming service.

People wanted competition without thinking what the fragmentation risk would be, and they got it.

Not quite. Whilst I do agree with the fragmentation point to a point, for me Sky's Satellite setup means you have to pay for a lot of stuff - Starter - just to get the bits you do want.

Roll on PremFlix....?

IainD: I’ve followed this tread for the past month and can’t believe the utter rubbish that is being spouted on here, if you don’t like the coverage Sky are doing don’t subscribe. Do some old fashioned research first, get yourself a decent football app which tells you when the games are actually being played ( some tell which Sky Channel the game is on ) and get with the times. If your going to watch via Sky internet apps that’s your decision but don’t bitch and moan when coverage doesn’t suit you , it was YOUR decision to go the modern way for YOUR convenience.

I’ve managed to sort out when , which channels the games are on easily, originally for example Saturday mornings opening game was on 2 channels, that has changed in the past day to just Sky Premier League ( channel 58 ).

Terrible take.

'Get with the times' - we're actually taking a massive backwards in accessibility and quality.

Your solution to any complaints seems to be 'don't subscribe'. Excuse me if I can't go without my EPL fix.

Jog on.

Simply look into other streaming devices , I invested in one that allows me to watching hundreds of world wide TV channels, every UK channel and the device WILL allow me to watch every
EPL and EFL when played.

I do sincerely hope you and others Chet the service that Sky should provide, however give some Lea way incase it’s not to everyone’s liking …

Wow 3 posts, I think we've found our Sky boot licker/employee/shareholder etc.

There's a thing called standards and keeping up with the times, Sky has been extremely slow in evolving to a modern digital platform and providing a service on par with other digital content providers.

Its just really unfortunate that us, the consumer has to be held to ransom to their shitty standards.

When poeple start trying to figure out how to use overseas streams that are better quality and suited towards their needs then they deserve the losses that follow for not satisfying that group of people.

For now I keep it because its cheap enough and I've always had a sub for Sky Sport Now to watch A-league but I prefer the quality Spark Sport provides and the price was extremely good for the quality you get.

4th and final post on this subject… Just announced by Sky regarding Sky Now and in particular Premier League. A new updated version for the app that will have watch from the start, multi screening and a 30 sec live action replay mode. They say these changes will be available by the end of the month.

I gave up hope on these clowns fixing SSN long ago, the video quality has been my biggest gripe which has been atrocious for years compared to Spark and the Sky Satellite feed. Just check out the 50 odd pages of Sky Sport Now thread

Who knows if the Premier League fanbase will lap up SSN video quality and feature set that they were used to.

So...they're planning an upgrade of the app to what is expected a month into the season!!??

Screams reactive update rather than proactive, to me.

They really didn't look into what people want - they have simply buckled under the weight of complaints before the season has even started.

My heart sank looking at the Sky announcement regarding a Sky Sports Now. A bunch of not important features in no makes up for the lack of picture quality. It is astonishing that we could watch Spark Sport three years ago with picture quailing far superior to what Sky Sports Now can manage now. Sky must have some ineffective managers that believe in their old satellite model. The market wants quality streaming. On Monday morning expect huge amounts of complaints asking why watching Sky Sports Now is like streaming on a dial up connection from ten years ago. You had six months to prepare to stream the biggest sports league in the world and you failed. Even small companies can manage to buy content management software and stream at high quality. But Sky NZ cannot. Do I really have to buy Optus from Australia to stream at a decent quality? I can only hope that the Premier League revoke your broadcast rights for being unable to deliver a fit for purpose broadcast of their product. I suggest we all complain to the Premier League. Sky Nz - you represent the worst of NZ.

Image quality sounds like it is being upgraded too, if you look at this Twitter reply https://twitter.com/SKYNZ/status/1552826538818772992

Yes, I saw that last week. Still no announcement regarding quality. I think they were just referring to the basic features they are adding to SSN and not quality. Sky - you replied to this forum last week, so we know you read these messages. Simple question - when will the Sky Sports Now picture improve to match the quality of Spark Sport? No official reply implies there are no plans to improve picture quality.

Credit when due. It appears that Sky Sport now picture quality has improved significantly. Thank you Sky. Now please allow two simultaneous screens like Spark to allow family viewing and I’ll be very happy.

You sure? I really don't see the difference between now and yesterday especially for the other channels.

Motion is stil jerky and half the speed of Spark, compression artifacts galore.

A good idea is to compare the stream quality between Sky Sport Now and Prime on Sky go for the commonwealth games (its free to watch Prime on Sky Go).

The clear winner is the Prime TV Sky Go stream

My impression is there was an improvement as I watched the Arsenal game and it looked crisper and not as compressed as when I normally view SSN. Will try and compare to sky go free content later.

They announced they secured the rights in February this year, surely it’s not asking do too much to have the app sorted in 6 months.
