So no recourse to return to the óld' 0ld MySky box. We 'bought' the old box when it first was offered. So well worth doing so as for the years we had it, it more than repaid itself. Any faults were done for free.

Sky had a technician install the new/old SkyBox. It looked brand new to me and is so much better then the new one. Simpler in every way and the fast forward is miles better than the new box.

So sad that Sky launched a bad product. But that's what monopolistic companies do.

i am trying and the first thing i was told if i have had the new white box longer than a month  i couldnt swap it back to the old mysky black box. i told them fine, cancel my account and i will start again . i am now on hold to see what they can do. Hopeless.

Edit. Just finished and was told it would take 3-5 business days and a thankyou and they hung up. I have no idea what is happening in 3 -5 days , am i getting a new white box ? are they sending me a black one or are they cancelling my old white box. Sigh and to make it worse i was talking to a very nice Philippine lady, that with hearing aids i could not understand, so i will get my wife to ring back tomorrow and find out what they are doing.

edit 2 ok just found out they have cancelled my service so i now i have no Sky , which i have paid for, for the next few days , again hopeless.

I emailed Sky and it went to a location that the support/phone staff couldn't access, so a LOT of talking got the message over.

Next thing, my new box became deactivated, so no Sky at all.

Another phone call and this lady got my new sky box running again and arranged to have a technician to come and install a MySky box on Monday (this was Friday)

Next day, had a call from tech to ask was I free to install the old Skybox and collect the new one, which they duly did and the old sky box was a brand new one and much smaller than my original, but worked exactly as it should.

Oh the joy!

Next day, got a call from another tech arranging to install an old MySky box. Told him one had arrived and installed on Saturday. 2 different companies?? Case of Sky's left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing!

The öld MySky box is so superior to the new box. The recording is so much easier, going forward a day is easy, deleting is easy. So clutter free, no undeletable apps that I'll never want.

Must have spent over 6 hours, either replying to emails and making phone calls - very frustrating, indeed but glad to be back in the future with the old mysky.

Out of 100 pages, how many comments on here are actually positive about Sky's new offering (as opposed to negative)? I don't see too many on here saying "Jeez, this is the best thing since sliced bread!" They seem to be few and far between from my quick glance at the thread.

Thanks for your help. I think we are in a different situation but will see how things turn out. Just had a conversation with a help desk, and boy is it hard work.

to be fair to Sky it does what it say it does, it just doesnt have the features that the old one had. If you never used the old box i  think it would be fine because you wouldnt know what you are missing.

for anyone trying be prepared for a lot of frustration and things to go wrong , my wife was on the phone for a hour and a half trying to get the white box to work again. Most of it on hold or trying things .

I check this thread now and then to see if there has been some updates released or any positive feedback and yeah 100 pages later I'll hang on to the old box

As many will say here... its 1980's tech. BUT, I dont care about the tech I care about the content. Do I like modern tech? Off course. But I care more about what I watch and its easy to watch what I watch.

Yep

Not defending Sky, but did Sky do this? No, they got someone else to do this, they failed. Ultimately it ends up in Skys IN tray. Lesson learned, next upstep they do, look elsewhere

Same. Looks good, didnt work out. As a standard early adopter , I late adopted here. Old Sky box just works. If I need a slice of streaming, switch HDMI on the TV to the ATV4 and away I go. Too easy

The new box has satellite and streaming, well, Id still be pressing a button or two to do the same thing
