At the moment probably better off setting an alarm for the time in the night I'm hoping to watch from, get up and pause it, then hope it's still paused at that point and hasn't auto-played or gone to screensaver etc a few hours later when I actually get up!

This morning I made lunch etc for the day before turning the TV on. I should have left it fast forwarding whilst sorting lunch.

As I’ve posted before I have the pod and I like it. It does everything I need. But my one major frustration is the slow “fast” forwarding which seems to take forever if trying to skip a lot of something. I got up early before work this morning to try and watch the last hour or so of the British Open golf. The full programme was 11 hours long so I wanted to fast forward to about 9:15. At the fastest speed, specified as “64x” it took a full 18 minutes to get from the start to just over 9 hours which should really only take maybe 10 seconds. I almost needed to have got up half an hour earlier to begin the fast forwarding process. Had the same frustrations with Wimbledon when trying to watch a match that wasn’t the first of the day. So my biggest wish is for this to be sped up or maybe an option to specify a time to jump to.

Used the new box at my Mother-in-law’s place in the weekend and fast forwarding was much quicker so maybe it’s a satellite vs streaming thing…

On MySky if you select a recording, then press the right arrow key you can type in the minutes. Perhaps they have that feature on the new box?

Not sure if that's on the new box, but I'm talking about the pod which doesn't have that option.

It would be a much better option to be able to do that instead of having to fast forward several hours worth which is common for sport.

Now I know what we are missing with the new box, and I guess that now we have purchased the new box there will be no possibility of getting the old model.

Apart from reading the complaints on this forum I have not seen any adverse comments anywhere else, so I presume most customers are satisfied with the new model.

You obviously havent read their Facebook posts Comments then.

Hi all - had my new box for a week or so, only using it to watch sport. Trying to live pause the AB’s game currently. Any ideas why it may not be working and any tips for fixing it? I’ve restarted the box without success.

Cheers

Does anyone know if the new box transmits location back to SKY, in particular for a multiroom device not at the registered address?

Agh! The very first night we got our new box Newshub at 6 was broken up in to several segments, some with no minutes recorded. After using the box for the last few months it seems to have settled down although two nights ago Newshub only recorded 3/4 of the program but we noticed that Three+ had started recording so we got to watch the news. Well, fast forwarded most of it. 😀

Tonight, Newshub broken up in six segments again. Anyone else seeing this?

Rant over. 😀

My Sky pod has taken to turning itself off randomly while I'm watching a program.  I haven't used it recently but needed it to watch the FIFA womens world cup.

Looks like an update has rolled for the new Sky boxes which includes Remote Record capability!
Platform version - 1.2.1

This brings Remote Record functionality which is now live and working!

From - https://www.skygo.co.nz/tv-guide - I am able to request remote recording which is sent to the box! You can also request remote recording from the SkyGo app on iOS and Android as well. Tested and works well so far!

Since the TV Guide on SkyGo does not TVNZ channels - you cannot request remote recording for these! #sucks.

I see the Sky STB application has been made a system app now as well which is a good idea!
You can manually check for updates or your box might of already updated.

One issues I have found - rebooting after the update seems to drop wifi and as much as you try and re-connect - it does not seem to work.

Simple fix is to just power off the box and power it back on - on load it will re-connect to the existing wifi network it was previously connected to.

Thanks for the warning. I saw the WiFi error directly after the system update too. I rebooted the SkyBox using "Android Settings > Device Preference > Restart" and that restored WiFi for me (and avoided crawling around to reach the power cord 🔌 ).

Thanks for the update. Yes, it looks like mine updated automatically without me noticing, not even any issue with the wifi - maybe because I have set static IP?

Remote record does indeed work now thru the Skygo app. Not yet thru the Sky TV Guide app on IOS, no update pending on that yet - and there is a setting there where you can link to a sky box, but that didn’t work. But small steps, great news so far!
