Even they cannot get an official update from Sky on what went wrong!

I hate the new skybox. For our needs, the old box does everything we need. The new box has so much bloatware, stuff I really don't want, lacks the simplicity of the old remote and makes recording so much slower and more complicated.

I sent my old box back in the same box the new one arrived in, as requested. Taped up the box - a poor fit and sellotaped it up and used the courier label and posted it off. To my surprise, it got returned by courier with a sticker saying it got damaged. Emailed Sky as to what I should do but told them I'd rather keep it and re-install it again.

Not had a reply after several days. Sky has really make a cock-up with this new box.

I don't really have any major issues with the new box just a bit of lag with remote, maybe because I'm in another room using it.

Still waiting for Sky it activate the Record, Pause, FF features. I don't know why they didn't do it in the first place when I asked a couple of weeks ago

Other than that is appears to be easy to use. Just a lack of and poor Customer Services

Nothing but issues with the new box. Firstly it wouldn't activate until the 10th+ attempt! Then straight away I noticed a delay and freeze when changing channels. Series link records every episode, highlights and replays for the cricket. No coloured buttons on the remote means you have to press about 4 different buttons to delete a programme. And all the tiles that show when changing channel look disgusting and cover everything. The guide is also 10 times worse.

Why couldn't Sky just release a 4K box with the same remote and same features plus add streaming apps. Something like the IQ5 or Sky Q would have been better than a cheap and nasty Android box with bloatware. Going by everyone on here I would say anything Sky produces shouldn't be touched with a 10 foot barge pole.

I'm definitely sending it back but don't look forward to a 3 hour phone call!

Incredibly useful (not) update from Sky on the issues last night - https://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/news/business/sky-tv-updates-on-restricted-content-blunder/.
They basically blame no one.

Not sure why Sky didn't take inspiration from Foxtel's IQ4 or IQ5 box. It appears to be a lot more user-friendly especially the remote which is similar to the current My Sky one but with app shortcuts. It also isn't full of Google bloatware as it is Linux based. Sky could have even licensed the boxes from Foxtel as they did with the My Sky HDI/+ (rebranded IQ2s). Why reinvent the wheel from the ground up for the tiny market here? They probably were trying to save money but R&D costs would have been huge? Sky Q/Glass from UK may have also worked well.

Sky NZ don't do R&D.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

They did a bit of research, but it was mainly CDMA and XT Network based.

I feel the same way about the new box and would be interested to hear more about your comments re Record, Pause, and FF.
