Well that'd be an easier fix than all the testing! We have an old Sky box, and were thinking about upgrading to the new one - so maybe I'll do that first - and then try your method if the issue still exists. Thanks very much!

I haven’t tried connecting the Sky box direct to the TV as yet, as believe it or not,  there are now bigger issues with the whole TV-amp setup! I spent HOURS on it today (many profanities muttered) and I think I’m in a bigger hole than when I started!

The issues are now:

  1. A 10 year old Xbox One WILL NOT display on the big TV. I tried multiple HDMI cables, connecting directly to TV’s HDMI ports (3 different ports tried, including the one marked with a ‘Game’ icon) ]. I tried connecting the Xbox direct to the Tv, through the amp, tried selecting every input available on the TV : nothing.  I moved the Xbox to the slightly older smaller Samsung Frame TV : it connects 1st time, and operates as expected.
  2. I could not for the life of me get the amp’s OSD to appear on the big TV - I didn’t try it on the small TV, as the amp is completely tether to its location via 5 speaker cables - and I can’t move the smaller TV. Again, I tried multiple HDMI cables, tried all the TV’s ports (including eARC and HDMI 1 - which I’d read somewhere that once had to use to get a Denon amp’s OSD to display). I was trying to get the OSD up so I could change the wireless network the amp was connected to, but as couldn’t view the OSD, tried via the amp’s display (fail), via a wireless iOS connection in the Denon app (fail), via an iPhone tethered to amp via USB (fail), via an iPad connected to a wireless network generated by the amp using an IP address (fail)…so frustrating! I reset the amp’s network settings several times.

I reset the TV several times, did an auto-setup run with everything plugged in one way (ie ATV + xBox connected direct to TV) and then when that failed,  the ATV + xBox connected direct to amp - then reset TV and did an auto-setup - another fail. I read that a CEC setting (called “Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC)” on the Samsung) can cause issues. - so have tried with that both turned on - and off - and still no joy.

I’m at my wits end with this TV (wish I’d never bought it - have never had such issues with previous TVs, all Sonys) - so any help would be much appreciated! Even a suggestion of an AV tech guru I can pay to sort out the shambles would be appreciated!

PS - still have the issue with the TV glitching when I display the Sky feed via HDMI…

Looks like a TV Issue.

When you say you've "reset" the TV, is that just a power-on reset or something more substantial?

You may need to do a "Factory Reset". This will mean you'll have to enter the service menu area, so you'll need to look up how to do it for your model.

Also you'll have to setup everything again afterwards. (WiFi, TV channels, Input names etc.)

Hi RP - thanks! I reset the TV using a Reset command within the OSD - but not sure if it was a Factory Reset. Will have a look for that command when I get home. After the reset, I had to setup the TV like it was new from the box : ie connect to network, sign in to Samsung account, let it run through an auto-setup to discover connected devices etc.
