I can get quite consistent freezes on Mondays, it has always been the end of the 8.30 shows so around 9.30pm the 2 programs I record at this time are Desperate Housewives TV2 8:30pm and CSI (HD) TV3 8:30pm. . I also record Knight Rider on C4 at 7.30pm
all on seriies link.

Over the last 4 weeks it has only managed to record this timeslot ok once. And that was last week.
Usually symptoms are the box will freeze up at the end of the recording and will require a reboot which then loses both shows! They show Failed in the planner, all I can do is delete them.

I am usually watching another channel while the box is recording the 2 shows.

Today it ALSO failed to record Kinght Rider, no freezing however and no reboot required just says the following in the planner.

Knight Rider
Failed:58m, Cancelled code:6, 7.30pm Mon 16

ALSO Today something different.  THe box froze up shortly after starting to record both 8.30PM shows, at about 8:32PM, a reboot later it continued to record the 2 shows. In the planner for both programmes it shows

Desperate Housewives
Part rec:58m, Cancelled code:6, 8.30pm Mon 16

CSI
Part rec:58m, Cancelled code:6, 8.30pm Mon 16

So this time it failed before the shows were over, phew I dont have to download these via torrents for this week!!

I haven't had any issues with the box recording multiple shows on any other days.  It is currently showing 20% free.
There has to be some issue here, whether its because it is recording an HD show and SD whie watching another HD etc?

However I have recorded 2 HD shows, and watched a 3rd HD show plenty of times with no issues.  Its just this Monday timeslot that gives me issues!!  Adn the Knight Rider failing is new for this week! *SIGH*

Depending on your pre/post recording time settings, at 8.30 aren't you trying to record 3 programs at once?  The end of KR and beginning of DHW and CSINY, Something MySkyHDi doesn't do?

kiwipearls: Thats a pretty good idea.

I have had failed recordings the last 3 Mondays of Nip/Tuck - it says clash on two of them and then failed on another - this has annoyed me greatly.

So tonight I will be recording

Knight Rider C4 7:30pm
Desperate Housewives TV2 8:30Pm
CSI TV3 8:30PM
Brothers and Sisters TV2 9:30Pm
Life on Mars tv3 9:30pm
Nip/Tuck Tv2 10:30pm

I watch TV2's Mitre Ten Dream Home at 7:30pm which is normally paused at the beginning as that is when I put the kids to bed - and have normally caught up to live tv by second set of ads.

We normally start watching CSI about 15 minutes after start of recording.  As MyskyHDI states you can record two channels while watching a third or a recorded programme.

And as you can see there is no clash - I am not recording any other channels.

My box is set to add 0 to beginning and end.  And just for these testing purposes I will not put my box in standby before going to bed.

Normally I find out tuesday morning that the box is frozen as the kids can't watch Cartoon Network and I have to push the reset button.

I am already having to download Nip/Tuck - so I do not mind sacrificing it's recording tonight.  And have given up on the American version of Life on Mars due to that failing also.  But have decided I don't want to taint the English version which I enjoyed so much.

Aslo my box at start of recording tonight has 49% space free.

Like clock work Nip/tuck Failed.  All other recordings recorded.  And Nip/Tuck is the only show that didn't have another programme recording on another channel.  So that is weird.  I have set mine to 0 on start and end.

I guess my MyskyHD box is anti Nip/Tuck.

Previously when I had it set to auto start/end it would also fail on Knight Rider, Bros and Sisters and Life on Mars.

But this whole Nip/Tuck conspiracy has me confused.

My Pre and Post record padding is set to Automatic so it should figure it all out on its own.  And besides if it couldn't do it it shouldn't freeze!! It should say so i.e. there is a conflict etc..  I come from Tivo world my expectations are high.

My experience the last 6 months is that it does not work as advertised.

When I had mine set to auto, it never said in their was a clash with the recording - yet it would would try and record and then fail/freeze.

Times when it says there is a clash, not other programmes were recording.

The programming logic is not coded correctly imho.

I wish we could all use Tivo.

You can get a Tivo in NZ.  You'll just have to spend as much time and effort "aclimatising" it to NZ.
Check out nztivo.net for information and discussions.

If you're not happy with HDi then send it back and either buy a Freeview PVR, a standard PVR or build a media centre.  The easiest way to express your dis-satisifaction is to cancel your subscription and find something else that satisifies you.  I seriously doubt that NZ will rank highly in the OS upgrade cycle for the platform - so you could be waiting a long time for a resolution.

Mine froze last night while recording lost. P1ssed me off because I only got to watch the last part of the show.

I am glad I took the $15 extra per month option, because if this keeps happening I am going to be sending it back soon.

I put myskyHDI into standby and it finally recorded Nip/tuck.

However last night I was only recording 24.  Had the box in standby.  Decided at 9:45pm to watch something to unwind before bed.  So took myskyhdi out of standby, went into my planner to find a show to watch.

Scrolled down and highlighted the show I wanted to watch, selected it.  I didn't press play just yet, needed to get a glass of water.  1 minuate later went to press Select to play - and it froze.

This device should not be freezing.

I am still trying to watch everything I have recorded, so that I can get Sky to replace it.  It is a shame they don't let you "borrow" the old device until you have watched everything, or have a way in which to copy recordings to a new device.

I could transfer everything to my DVD Recorder, but there that is just too time consuming.

On a positive note, anyone seen those TiVo advertisements?

TiVo is officically coming to NZ at the end of this year.  However, and here is the downer - it will only have freeview content.  I think they are in negotiation with Sky.

I will not go with TiVo unless I can get sky on it.

Also they are wanting to negotiate with ISP's about unlimited bandwidth to download content.

I think it is about time New Zealand joined the rest of the world and gave us unlimited bandwidth.  I have friends in South America who can download and upload as much as they want.

Is anyone else having problems with the live pause function of Myskyhd?

Example:

Tonight I paused Fair Go as I has to put the kids to bed and got a little distracted.  So by 7:50pm I started watching it.  It said I was 20 minutes behind live TV - which is right.  But as I was watching that gap got a lot shorter - to the point at 8:10 (20 mins later) a message pop up and said end of recorded tv...

I still had about 5-10 mins left of fair go.

I thought the live pause recorded buffer was able to store 60 mins of live tv?  So if I watch 20 mins of it, it will keep recording the next lot of data until I caught up somehow or decided to ff to live tv.

Is my understanding of this wrong?

Nothing else was recording at the time on any of the tuners.

We used to be able to say for instance, pause the first 20 minutes of Lost, so that we would be able to ff all the ads, so by time it got to the end of the show, or a few mins into the next show - we didn't have to watch any ads, and we knew it would keep recording the rest of the next program, as long as we kept within that 60 min timeframe.

I've just been having so much problems with the whole myskybox it is doing my head in big time.

Yet, it is our only main way of recording tv (apart from the DVD recorder, but that only records one channel at a time, and is only used as a precautionary measure).

I think I do have a faulty box, but trying to watch everything I've recorded, so that I can get a replacement - is just really hard, and I have even sacrificed a whole lot of shows too.  Still not caught up.

The Freezing of the MySkyHDI is the most anoying "bug" which means 1/2 my recordings don't work (I record alot and watch them later).
Having to press the reset button when I get home or in the morning is getting fustrating and then missing out recording everything after it freezing.

How many people here have the same problem? software bug I guess. Has Sky acknowledged the bug? been reported?

Also I've found that if you record something and play it back it will just stop about 90% of the way thru sometimes and the only way to play the end of it it to select play (end) and then rewind it back to the part it missed.

Also I've heard about the stickers with the remotes but I've not that that problem.

Reading the net same problems (same hardware ) with the IQ2 boxes in AU
