garryk:

I'm running a VuSolo2+ decoder using an abandoned Sky dish and LNB to put Freeview etc FTA content up on an oldish 42" Vierra Panasonic screen (HDMI) (Yeah, I probably should invest in a new smart TV and ditch the satellite decoder. Streaming content also comes in separately over an Apple TV - HDMI)

Knowing the cutover was looming up, last night I checked what services I still had available (some channels having previously dropped off), so I knew things were still at least partly working.

But today I found I have NO channels at all working over the satellite decoder, and no signal showing in Signal Finder (0.0 dB SNR, 0% AGC, 0 BER.)

I updated the satellites.xml file, and did a couple of restarts from cold, but nothing changed.

Looks like I am heading up onto the roof to re-align the dish in the morning? (In Hamilton, so wouldnt have thought I'd be fringe? Maybe my original installation has been sub-optimal albeit working, but now is no longer well enough aligned?)

Or is there something simple I've missed about what has to be done to move from the Optus-hosted services to the Korea6- based services?

@Mavarick and @garryk

I believe the updates to satellites.xml rely on Lyngsat to be updated.

As I wasn't at my computer to edit my XML directly, I did a manual scan of the list provided by user openmedia and appear to have all channels again.

I had to change from 8PSK to QPSK.

I'm using a Vu Zero.

Hi Guys.

Your Solo2 boxes should be fine.

Sky have changed their Symbol rate from 22500 to 30000. As well as QPSK.. Leave FEC to Auto.

So all you need to do is change those setting on one of your Transponders and select Network Search and it should Re-Load all services.

I'm not sure where you're sourcing your Satellites.XML, but i would assume that it would not have been updated with the new Symbol Rate.

I'm running both the Solo2 and Duo2 Boxes myself.

Cheers:

Success,

I managed to get there via using the scan function via the Signal finder function and the 4 sets of transponder numbers posted earlier,  I couldn't get it to work any other way.

Just transfered the channels to a new bouquet after each scan.

I updated the XML file via the Solo2 box under the Turners setting, it picked up the K6 sat as an option. along with D2 and the measat3. prior I just had D2 and measat3

then like I said rest was done via manual scan,  was easier for before when all had to do was a scan. I know enough to be dangerous, I use for TV and accessing my NAS as i really like the play features of the VU,  in doing a reflash I lost my favorite skin too, that will be tonight's job lol

no need to adjust my LNB either, its a sky 10750 with just one cable connected

My block box just needed a restart. I think it actually looks slightly better PQ wise, maybe just me.

Hi guys, to update satellites.xml, I just used the Menu/Setup/Tuners & Scanning/XML Update (satellite) option from the menu screens. This updated the xml file in /etc/tuxbox and uses it after a restart.

Unfortunately, I'm still not getting any channels even after a blind scan.

I fear I have changed something in the setup of the Tuner/LNB parameters, and now dont know what settings to trust and which to change.
Can I ask a big favour from someone with a Vu+ Solo2 receiver connecting to a Sky LNB (photo attached) to give me some screenshots of what I should have set?

TIA

Hi Garry.

I used the signal finder under turners and config

think it was change to user defined transponder

12456/H/22500  14 Services
12483/H/22500  8 Services
12530/H/30000  4 Services

then you will scan each set of above separately,  then go to your last scanned folder and make a make a new bouquet called mine Freeview K6

once moved there go back and rescan the signal finder again and repeat for the 3 frequencies.

hope this helps, took me about 10 mins all up .

can't do screen shots as just back at work,

We have been getting the same loss of sky overnight for a month. Recently, it's going off between 18.30 to 08.30 every night. Ruins my recording of EPL to watch when I get up in the morning.

Complained to sky and they are giving back a month's fee. That's good but prefer the proper coverage. Looking forward to the satellite change over.

BUT, sometime after 18.30 last night, off it went again and not back until 09.00.

I live in Hamilton - are we cursed?

Rang help this morning and did the Setup/1111 several times and nothing. The lady said that some other customers were having similar issues. They are sending another Black box.

Ours is a Kaon and have checked the software is up to date. Is there anything else I can do?

Ok, so I can find 23 transponders now, but still none of them report having any services?

Furthermore, the list of transponders reported by the scan doesn't match /include those expected or reported by others on this thread, namely

12456

12483

12530

12394

I'm now totally bamboozled!!! And not totally sure what to do next. Back to basics, I guess.

Thinking I could get hold of a signal strength meter/Satellite Finder to confirm there is good signal (although getting some transponders reporting would seem to suggest there is life there, so maybe I just have a config issue stopping the detection of services/channels??)

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

This was what the blindscan reported. The transponders reported look like they are totally from somewhere else? (11xxx000) whereas the services are being scan on frequecises that look more likely (12xxx000).

My Mum lost her Freeview satellite service overnight. She tried doing a powercycle of everything but to no avail, so I'll probably have to do further troubleshooting with her.
