This information is shown in the System Details Menu (under System Setup; System Settings):

Manufacturer: Pace
Hardware Version: TDS850NNZ.45.2
Software Version: 72.2.4.1.3.145

I would be grateful if someone could tell me whether the above decoder is the latest release of the MYSKY HDi decoder and what the approx. capacity of the hard drive is in GB.

Thanks for your help.
Fred

Also bear in mind that half(?) of that space is reserved for the on-demand content which is constantly being downloaded in the background

I think it's more like.. a 320gb HD inside.. partioned off.. 160gb User recordable space.. the other 160gb is reserved and can't be used by the customer (used to store VOD etc).

Thanks for your reply. I just wondered whether there is any way of telling whether a MySky HDi decoder is the latest version of the decoder to be issued by SKY?

The Hardware Version is quoted as : "TDS850NNZ.45.2". If the decoder has the latest software version, does this mean that the decoder is also the latest hardware version to be issued?

Regards
Fred

Thanks very much for your replies about the hard disk size.

I have noticed that, even if you haven't asked for a programme to be recorded, the decoder automatically records the latest TV programme that you have on screen. This means that you can use the "rewind" function to go back to the point where you first switched over to that programme.

However, as soon as you switch over to a different programme, the recording made of the previous programme you had on screen seems to be automatically deleted, and a new recording starts of the current programme on screen. I guess all the MySky HDi decoders do this?

Regards
Fred

Yes they do.  Its a common characteristic of PVR's around the world.  They call it Live recording.  The amount of buffering differs from provider to provider but I think Sky holds up to the last 60 minutes in a buffer provided you dont change channels or run out of space.

There hasn't been a significant hardware change in the MySKY 2 range yet so any MySKY 2 hardware will be the latest version.

Also it doesn't matter whether it's the latest hardware release or not - Sky will not replace your decoder with a later version unless yours experiences a fault.

I finally have fibre!  Had to leave the country to get it though.

But if you haven't previously had a My Sky HDi decoder, I guess SKY would install the latest hardware release decoder for you when you get it for the first time? Or could they give you an older version?
