Just had My Sky HDi installed. I connected the Sky supplied modulator via a scart cable and while I get vid and audio out OK, I also get a fair bit of mains hum on every bit of audio equipment in the house! The scart cable is a commercial one with video and audio earths connected to the proper pins.

Any ideas how to break the earth loop?

Actually, I get hum when the RCA outputs are connected to the modulator as well so it is not a scart issue per se.

More testing shows that the modulator is radiating RF in the MW AM band. Aligning the radio internal antenna perfectly with the AM signal gets it to an acceptable level but that is still no good for radios that need to face given directions e.g. to display clock readouts etc.

Anyone else getting this? Is there a modulator around that doesn't spray RF?

I will ring SKY to notify them of my complaint but if all their modulators do this then they are not likely to be able to sort the problem.
