old3eyes: I'm moving house end of June so Sky is not going with us. At $100 / month it's getting close to a weeks mortgage payment..

A week's?!

$270 / fortnight to be exact so you can see that Sky's $100 / month will go towards it.  Yeah  the $100  / week was a bit of a typo..  Money mouth

What does that have to do with the topic of whether Sky is worth having any more ? Everyone is giving their reasons for NOT having Sky, I gave one FOR having Sky.

So unless you've got something to say which is relevant to the discussion, I fail to see why your bothering to post.

I guess you made a statement about American rubbish, so he made a point that some may think football is rubbish. So, what for you is the only reason to have Sky may also be just another reason not to have Sky for someone else.

Considering the football is on in the middle of the night for perhaps a maximum of 10 hours a week whereas there are channels and channels of American shows I found the comments uncalled for.

I hardly think someone is going to cancel Sky simply because there are 5 games of football on a week.

The 'tuff for you' comment was also unnecessary.

We've just upgraded from Sky Digital to MySkyHDi and I am blown away by the quality of it. Questioning why we didn't upgrade ages ago!!! I won't be dropping Sky any time soon.

If sky partnered with ISPs to offer zero rated PPV shows (documentaries would be my main one) over the internet, I would be very interested. All my TV watching is done on a Media Center PC, and I know a lot of people around my age (18) that watch most things on laptops with TV on demand.

I wouldn't want to pay a huge amount, maybe $3 per 42min show, or $2 for a 21min show. I only have time to watch TV a couple of times a week other than my main shows (which are on FTA), so I can't justify Sky's monthly cost.

Another option that would make Sky more enticing is if they offered a PCI TV tuner instead of a standalone decoder. I don't care if they store it encrypted and can only play it back on the machine with the card in it, only having one device is fantastic, and I don't think I'll ever go back to multiple boxes on my TV.
