I've got MySkyHDi rented, HD ticket, Multiroom with the old analogue device.

Can I pay $99 to upgrade to +, pay extra $5 per month and use the old MySkyHDi in the mutliroom?

clevedon: MySky HDi upgrade to the new + is $149 ( $50 for the box and $99 install ) per decoder if you paid $599 upfront the first time.

Not for me it wasn't... at least not without a fight.

I paid $599 upfront for MySky and then $49 to upgrade to MySkyHDi and kept the original MySky as Multiroom.

They insisted for over an hour and through two levels of support that it would cost $649 to upgrade each of the boxes.... so $1300 if I wanted to upgrade both!!!

My persistence in arguing with this ridiculous charge eventually got them to agree to charge $149 per box as a "one off" apparently due to my excellent payment history... more likely my persistent arguing skills...

Our install is booked for next Saturday and confirmed as a one off cost of $149 for each of our decoders. That is the same cost they quoted me a couple of hours after the announcement was made of the new + boxes on the internet when I rung up to register my interest a couple of weeks ago.

Sounds like you struck a bad staff shift at Sky maybe.

That's what I figured, couldn't believe that they are going to charge $1300... which is why I kept pushing.

Has anyone got their MySky+ yet. I had mine booked for last Monday but they cancelled, not getting it until the 11th now

Maybe another case of the Sky marketing team being a couple of steps ahead of reality.

Hah, I just got a call from a Sky contractor saying he was coming to swap out the HDi box for a shiny new HD+ tomorrow. Funny thing is that I hadn't actually ordered it so I said no thanks. Although I did register my interest online (prior to 1 July) when it was first announced, I never went ahead with the order because I don't think it's worth the $149. He then went on to tell me that I was the 2nd person this evening that this has happened to.

I will keep a sharp eye on my next bill though.

Edited: grammar

I bit the bullet and paid the $149 for the Sky+ today.   I figured I'd be in it for the long term so I might as well get on with it.  Paying $100 of that for the install was acceptable to me, 'cos the tech drove out to my home on the suburban outskirts of Auckland, delivered the new box, spent about 40 minutes swapping the busy home theatre and HDMI interface connections I have and authorizing the new box with Sky head office and downloading the latest update while I paid by credit card, and I had a talk with him about the quad LNB past changes et al, then he did the paperwork leaving a copy.   $100/ hour for business with no milage fee, standard, I thought, check with your mechanic, you'd be lucky on a callout.

The HDI+ performance is identical; just that when I record my HD show the HDD usage is 1% for the show instead of 4% previously.

$49 for the 1Tb drive, $100 for the install, okay for me.

Got our Sky+ last Wednesday, with a similar experience to Wizzid. Also kept the old mySkyHD box to finish watching stuff on it, paying $25 for the multi-room, even though it's not in another room, actually right under the Sky+
We've got a piece of cardboard in front of the remote sensor on the Sky+ while using the old box, it's recording the shows from this week, we're watching shows from 3 weeks ago on the old box.

It all seems to be working well, and great to have less stress due not needing to watch everything before we go on holiday now for 2 weeks. Cool

Clevedon - did they upgrade both of your decoders for $149 each? When they came and did mine they only did one... refused to do the second.

I initially thought it was a misunderstanding, but ringing them back they want to charge me $649 to upgrade to mySKY+ from mySKYHDi.... these guys have the worst customer service of any company I've dealt with...

Interested to see how everyone else got on...

Got on good. $150 to upgrade mysky hdi, to the plus one. They took the multiroom decoder which was the silver standard definition one, and put my old mysky hdi in it's place.

So for $150 got a mysky with bigger hard drive, and the other one upgraded to high definition, very happy. Had first bill and all looks good.

No, we just got one installed ( we paid $599 upfront for both HDi's, at different times a couple of years back ) - I said I wanted both done at the same time but they said, "yeah no problem but it's still $149 per decoder" so I said stuff ya - you can come out twice then. Haven't got around to doing the other one yet, don't know if we'll bother right at this stage, filling the HDD's on the old and new one has been a big challenge at this stage.

We'll see how it goes through the RWC, I think they say 130 hours of HD recording on the MySky+ and with 48 games at around two hours each, we should be right between both the old and new I reckon.

This is exactly what they did for me, only problem was that I wanted to upgrade both decoders... Now they want to charge $649 to upgrade the mySKY HDi (now the multiroom device).

Thanks for letting me know, your situation is slightly different as we had a black and silver box, interested to hear from anyone with a black and silver mysky paid upfront that has tried to upgrade both to mysky+

Spoke to sky today (wife first time and me second time). Two different quotes..However

It seems to be

$100 for someone to come out and swap box
$50 for the 1TB box
$5 per month ( extra ) to rent 1TB box

Here's where it went to custard regarding the different prices and nobody seemed to know for sure but were 'very confident 'so am needing your help please.

I have multiroom just now, so my setup is the old standard skybox in the kids rumpus room and mysky HD in our main living room. I currently pay $25 for the multiroom 'service' which also negates the $10 HD ticket costs they charge you to watch an HD on a HD box ?!!?? Never really got that but hey ho !

I've read here of people getting their current mysky HD put into the multiroom setup so thought it was a win win for $5 a month as that would give the kids more functionality etc..

I was told today if I want that to happen its an extra $15 on top of the $25 multiroom fee I currently pay. So multiroom now goes from $25 to $40 due to a box with a Hard Drive !!??

Is that correct from what the people on the board have experienced, been told ?

If thats the case then it's getting mighty mighty expensive given sports and movies on top as well..in fact just bloody daft..Was paying about $68 18 months ago, now its $130 :)

Thanks for any inputs / thoughts

Ged

Did you pay the $600 outright at the start? That seems to be the difference that people are getting quoted. There also seems to be variance with CSR's.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Didn't pay $600 upfront. I rent the box monthly. So are you indicating you only get the HD box integrated into your multiroom set for free when you have paid the lump sum for it prior ?

Cheers
