I lost all Sky reception for several hours on Sunday with snow on the dish.  Luckily I had a Freeview HD set-top box as a backup and could at least watch the free-to-air channels.
This is the first time I have experienced this type of loss of signal - I live in sub-tropical Wellington.  Cool.   So how do Sky customers get on who live in areas where snow dumps are common.  Maybe they have warmers on their dish?

A tightly fastened black rubbish bag apparently works well. I am yet to try it out though.

I've lost all freeview direct channels. I.e tvnz7, parliment tv etc.

The one sky transmits themselves are fine tv1 hd, tv2 hd and skys own channels are fine.

All snow on dish has melted, and signal strength when on freeview channel is 0.

I'll see what it's like tomorrow.

It is a widespread problem, complaints all over country starting just after 5pm.

But in weather cold enough for snow, won't the water on the dish turn to ice ?

Surprised

Since the dish is on quite an angle, it would have to be Arctic temperatures of 40 below for the water to freeze in the time it takes to run down the surface of the dish and freeze before it pours off the lower edge of it.Wink
