I just slipped half way up a flight of concrete stairs while taking out my Nexus 4 and obliterated the front screen. I need a usable phone again soonish (within the next couple of weeks).

Is it worth finding and ordering a replacement screen assembly and fitting it myself? Guesstimated cost (based on a cursory Google search) $50-$100US + shipping. The alternative is probably buying a Nexus 5 (16GB version, $350US + shipping) - I like stock Android and not paying an arm and a leg for a new handset. Other suggestions welcome.

I'll take your Nexus 4 if you decide to go for a Nexus 5

Might be best to upgrade to a Nexus 5? as it's newer technology.
