Geektastic: I wonder if iPhone 6 will include a phablet version?

I hope so! Would love to see what they'd do for it. The Note 3 is my current personal phone, and I don't feel like anything below 5" is really in the same class of device. One of the biggest issues I have with the Notes is that, despite pulling off some excellent tricks like opening links in multiwindow view (You click a link from Twitter and it splitscreens with Chrome automatically, et cetera), it has the same 4x4 homescreen icon layout as the iPhone did in 2007, despite having a 5.68" screen vs. 3.5". Third party launchers will get around this, of course, but then there are other sacrifices in terms of memory usage & integration with features like Samsung's badge counters. Currently I accomplish my goal of more icons per screen with widgets. I suspect Apple would make better use of such real estate.

try a Lumia 1520 6" with lots of room for Live Tiles sometime :)

I've had a tinker, and the proper use of screen real estate is awfully appealing. 8.1 may encourage me to give it another crack, as there's a lot of smaller nitpicks fixed - especially the addition of start screen wallpaper. Would really prefer native FLAC support, a dock, and a stylus (It is enormously useful) to tick all the boxes, but the platform and hardware are certainly a lot closer to ideal than they have been historically.

If one turns up cheap secondhand, I'll probably be in with a grin as a secondary device. ;)

Ahh, it's great to finally have competition in my device category, I tell ya.

I'd put money on it.  They're the odd ones out now not having a large formfactor phone.

Phablet a multi-tasking, supersized smartphone that combines cellular network voice-calling capabilities with the larger display size of a small tablet is the future IMHO
it was the growth category of 2013 and is cannibalizing sales of the smaller screened devices

We expect them to be about 20% of smartphone sales this year
