Yep, it looks like 2017 will be the year the bezel dies. Here's a (assumed correct) leak of the soon to be announced LG G6 ...

that pic doesn't show death of any bezel, just making it slimmer and with more attractive proportion, which is what should be done. i used to own cars with no window metal border thingy ... horrible reliability

Ok, not quite dead, but critically injured (-;.

From what little there is to look at from the leak, if this little snippet is correct, the LG G6 might just be the phone that LG finally nails great design.

You could be right, but I agree with the poster regarding fragility. Phones will have to change soon to become life-proof and practical. It has happened before.

At the end of the 90's phones were getting ridiculously small, and everyone was marvelling and asking how smaller could phones get. You certainly weren't cool if you had a big phone.

At some point longer/wider/thinner/fragile will cease to be popular and the desire for practicality will once again cause the pendulum to swing the other way.

The glimmers are already there - now days who doesn't buy a big fat case to put their thinner-than-ever phone in?

This I never understood.  Why buy (or make!) a thin, beautiful phone, which is so fragile and hard to hold you need to stick it in a chunky case??

Exactly - make the phone more structural and use the extra space for a bigger battery.

Off topic, but I also don't understand why phones that are bigger than ever, require smaller SIM cards than ever - ?

I agree, I hate covering up my phone. I use the thinnest clear TPU case and a screen protector on my S7, but feel even that is too much.

I sat next to someone on a Wellington train this week using a naked Pixel XL - it looked great. My colleague runs with a naked iPhone 7, still the benchmark for hardware design (IMHO). Flagship phones are just so much more appealing unadorned compared with those sporting bulky plastic cases. Just don't drop it.
