Read yesterday in the UK Daily Telegraph that Nokia will be re-releasing a modernised version of the 8110.

I had the original - great phone. I found another article here although I see the phone has lost the clickable roller switch which was quite a cool thing.

Correction - mine was a similar but slightly different 7110

Yup, I have had the 7110. Was developing WAP sites and testing with it. Loved the phone, hated dealing with WAP and a buggy implementation that meant the WAP browser would die for silly little things.

Is this Nokia's strategy these days? Release novelty nostalgia phones?

I'd certainly buy a modern version of the 7110.

And there in lies the problem, the 8110 was never the matrix phone

I didn't keep my 8110 for very long as it had terrible reception and went back to my trusty 2110

The Nokia 8110 was the Matrix phone. Most of people used the 7110 instead (which had a scroll button instead of separate up and down keys). I had one of those.

The matrix phone was a modified 8110 with sprung loaded slide, the retail 8110 had a manual slide, hashtag biggest disappointment ever 😂😂😂
