Hi

My bloody Nokia 6234 keeps cutting out on me.? I had the problem when it was under warranty and they fixed it but now the warranty has expired.? The screen just goes blank and it cuts out and then switches itself on again and maybe it would work or maybe just cut out again.? It was happening for about 1-2 days a week and then be fine for the rest of the week, but now it's pretty much most of the time.? Is it a battery issue or should I just bin it?

Visit www.nokia.com

And make sure you have installed the latest handset software/firmware this can be updated online if you have the nokia data cable

I think its 5.43 (something like this) *#0000# will show you the current version!

I had this exact issue with my 6234; certain flexing would cause it to switch off in a particular way (not like power lost; the screen powered down in a certain sequence). After messing round cleaning contacts, even taking it to pieces and reseating internal cables, I gave up.
I had it fixed by Vodafone, who use mobilefonerepair.com. The fix said they replaced a "chip cap". I guess thats a surface mount capacitor. Which would be extremely difficult to do yourself without the right tools.
After this it has been working with no problems and I could not get the problem to reoccur with the same flexing.

How many messages do you have in the inbox and sent items?

I have exactly the same problem! When it goes blank though, the battery indicator is still visable. I have upwards of 1000 messages in both my sent and inbox folders respectively. Deleting these may make a difference perhaps?

Can you reproduce the problem by flexing the phone on the corners?

Clearing the inbox and sent items did not help for me. It was clearly a physical/electrical problemm.

I have had this fault on 3 separate 6234s. Fortunately they have all occured under warranty. Most of the time they seem to be fixed with a software reflash etc - I have yet to have anthing replaced as far as I know.

Ive deleted all my inbox and sentbox, seems to have cured the issue slightly.
