This follows on from a recent closed topic, I thought some of you might be interested to know the problem is now resolved by Nokia.

My Nokia 6500s could only read 3.6GB of my 8GB microSDHC card, there was some debate if this was a hardware or firmware problem. The good news is it is firmware. My 1st upgrade from v4.84 to v6.6 did nothing obvious but last night a new upgrade to v8.3 solved the problem and I now see 7.6GB available

The Nokia firmware version numbers are a bit odd, there has been no other upgrades available than those I've mentioned. Anyone know where eg 5.0 or 7.0 etc went, or if the numbering system has any meaning. And that's another thing, nowhere (I can find) do Nokia tell you what the upgrade does or fixes, very annoying.

Annoying habit of theirs, same as Apple not releasing what bug fixes have occurred between firmwares. Best you can hope for is a leaked one somewhere on the web.

Regarding the missed firmware numbers - they tend to skip numbers if the firmware upgrade is more significant than small tweaks. For instance, the N95 went from V12 to V20 in one step.

Glad to hear its resolved now.
