I have a newish Sanyo 3800 phone, which has about 7.1MB of memory, which for me is enough, however its slowly been all getting used up, but I can't account for it...

I know photos take up shared memory space, but still here are my totals:

Photos - 1.211MB
Games - 0.838 MB
Ringtones - 0.015 MB
Screensavers - 0.037MB

So thats a total of 2.101MB, but my phone shows 6.617MB of space used.... so whats it being used on!!??

The following areas of the Sanyo 3800 have storage available for deletion - maybe the cause of your problem is one of these - pick and choose the ones applicable to you:

Delete Web Cookies to delete all Web cookies saved in the phone.

In Delete Web History to delete all Web history saved in the phone.

In Delete Web Cache to delete all Web cache memory saved in the phone.

In Delete Contacts to delete all of your Contacts entries.

In Delete My Content to delete all items you have downloaded to your phone.

In Delete Pictures to delete all pictures saved in the phone.

In Delete Voice Data to delete all voice data and call memos saved in the phone.

In Delete Message to delete all text messages (including locked ones) in the Inbox, Sent Mail, Pending, Drafts,
and your defined folders; all Recent Lists; and all usercreated preset messages.

Check To Do List to display the To Do List on the calendar.

Oh, and you can store up to 98 numbers in your phone’s speed dial.  Check there too.

After that, see how much is free:)

Yes I forgot about Voive memo 0.133 MB there.

After reading what you said about cache, I thought that would be it for sure. I found it and deleted it, but suprisingly it made no difference.

I also deleted all messages pxt and all text, inbox, etc. I deleted web cache, history, cookies, even found the recycle bin which you didn't mention. I deleted the lot of what you mentioned, but not the previously itemised things, but nothing changed and used/free space still the same.

And if I did this, whats likelihood they will toast all my data off the phone?

If I went into Telecom store and mentioned the problem, do you think they will listen, or think I'm just a dum dum who is wasting their time over a trivial matter?

It is all kind of sad really, because I download many games/takes photos, but the phone is at a point now where I can no longer do this as its out of memory, but the figures do not stack up. I really love the phone, and don't want to have to sell it over this issue.
