Turning your phone off then on does clear the problem but does not prevent the problem from happening again in the furture.

Copying the contacts to the phone rather than the SIM card seems to minimise the issue occurring. Also, do not power the phone on while it is on charge.

Just as a mater of interest, why.  I have done this with the R7 and some strange things happen on power up..

Sorry, I work for Telecom so I'm not exactly sure what I'm allowed to disclose so would prefer not to say anything. Will email someone to find out more about it and post if I'm allowed.

Sorry :(

I have had such problems with this phone, I am about ready to take it back. They can just have it - I don't want it anymore.
I have had all the problems with contacts, not reading from either SIM or phone, and when they finally show they are doubled up.
When I select any of the doubled up contacts no contact info appears so I cannot make calls or text unless I know someone's number by memory, and incoming calls do not show contact names.
I cannot get an indicator for new voice messages - I called up my voice box last week and found messages I didn't know had been there for weeks. Telecom has tried to fix it but nothing has happened yet.
My internet cuts off halfway through reading a news article so I have to switch off and then on again

And the best one - one night my awesome R6 decided it wanted to go on Roaming signal and wouldn't change back to the next day. I've never used roaming before (never even been out of this country) and didn't know what it was doing!! I couldn't make any calls or texts (unless, I figured out later, I added the international NZ pre-fix number).  This took me hours to figure out, and no amount of resetting the phone would make it go away.

I'm about ready to create a Facebook user group for "I HATE TELECOM R6s".

There, now I feel a bit better... ;)

Is there anyone out there who HASN'T had any problems with their R6?

I have a R90 and am suffering countless problems, see post. They refused to replace it with a Nokia or other name brand. They have the worst designed software. Interesting to hear they have the lowest return rate on the XT network sonce its only been up and running for a couple of months thats hardly time to make a judgement call.Mines been back with no result.Be warned buy a name brand its your best bet for reliability.

To NealR - It's been about 6 weeks since you replied syaing we should bear with you and Telecom was expecting a fix in about 4-5weeks. Do you have an updated status you could pass on, or should I get my friend to return their phone instead?

Cheers

Yes I have had this issue as well. Also has anyone else had the issue where two Telecom NZ names appear on the screen, the roaming R square appears in the same place as the bluetooth logo. Essentially Roaming on the Telecom Network. This stops you from sending or recieving anything.

Is there a fix coming or should i go back and demand a refund.

Tom
