I want an iphone, and use it on XT.

Prepay suits me best, with the text package and the $1 per day internet.

Ideally, I would use it as a phone MOnday to Friday as I have all the internet I need at work and at home. Weekends etc and those days I do want the internet, I would use the $1 per day.

My questions are thus:

1) Would 10mb last long? (never used an iphone but have a touch - would mostly check a few emails, maybe calander, few websites etc)

2) I know my ipod touch connects to the internet randomly, to say, tell me that there are new apps to update or whathaveyou. If I get an ipod, can I set it so it never connects to cellular network unless I physically tap on an app (ie something like "would you like to connect" pops up?) and still have it do its wifi thing? I have heard you can get the network to disable the mobile internet, but I dont want that to happen at all.

Cheers guys

Quite a few apps run automatic connections to the network without you knowing it. There's quite a bit about it on the vodafone forums - there are workarounds but they require changing the APN or somesuch.

I've never seen any significant usage from automatic update checking or the like. And Vodafone charge you proportionately less than $1 until you get to 200 KB. I'd hope Telecom would do no worse though I wasn't able to find the exact deal on their web site.
