NZtechfreak: Surely we know someone trustworthy in the states who could ship them?
kepster: Yeah but it has issues on some 3G sim cards. Do you guys think it can work on vodafone sim?I can confirm a Vodafone 3G sim card works fine on an N900 device that a friend was using today. This was on one of the pre-release devices supplied at a Maemo conference but I'd guess that means it works on a production device.
euanandrews: Working out possible shipping costs, using the US Global Mail site shipping rates calculator, we would be looking at $51.40 US per unit.
That is based on:
Dimensions: 7.3 x 7.7 x 2.1 inches
Weight: 1.4 pounds (have to choose 2lb option)
That would be 4-5 days delivery time, using FedEx International Economy.
The cheapest option is only $24.49 US, but has a slow delivery time of 7-21 days
Then I looked at a group import...
Say 10 people:
Dimensions: 14.6 x 7.7 x 10.5 inches
Weight: 14 pounds
Result: $140.42 US
Divide that by ten people, $14.50 US each, so its far cheaper, AND, that price is the fastest delivery time of 1-3 days, using FedEx International Priority.
I read more into US Global Mail and the address is in your name, so the goods would be in your name, meaning warranty, which is good.
Will research more.
Internet is my backyard...
