kitretter: thanks mate that was a huge help. has your n900 arrived at the shipito place yet? if so how much was your shipping to nz and did you put the full value on your declaration? i think i will coz i'd rather pay alittle tax than have my item lost and not be able to get a full credit. i've also got a debit cartd so that makes the process way easier.

No it has not yet arrived at Shipito as I only ordered it yesterday and it has not shipped from Amazon yet...I am waiting in the pre-order queue.

NZtechfreak received confirmation from Amazon that the N900 will be shipped to Amazon on the 8th, but he placed his order a couple weeks earlier so will be further up the queue...hopefully I will be not long after that.

As for shipping, Shipito will calculate that exactly once it receives the package, but you can use the shipping calculator found on the website...I am going to use FedEx 2-3 day delivery, which is quoted as costing about $28 US.

As for the declaration, how much tax you pay will depend on how much you declare ...
If you declare the full value, you will likely pay about $60 tax...
If you will to declare the N900 at a lower value, say $400, you will pay no tax...
The risk is if the device gets lost or broken, insurance will only cover the value you declared...
Also, customs may be wiser and know the real value of the item, and you will still end up paying tax.

Obviously as I am still  waiting for the N900 to arrive from Amazon, I have not yet declared anything.

Still waiting three weeks of pre order and still on hold with Newegg hopefully its in there new shipment due this week.

Also getting a friend to send from US as a present I hope they cant see through my disguise lol and as one of the posters said NZ costumes are random so you might get away with zip

@madcat- I not sure about why they are bringing price down prob xmas specials? Dont think the N900 will ever come to Voda or Tcom not commercial enough for them to tech orientated for the general public.

c71931f: O.T but has vodafone lowered the price of N97's because of the N900?

doubtful. they never dropped it cause of the n97 mini being released. vodafone are pretty useless with dropping phone prices due to newer tech coming out.

$999? haha way cheaper on pricespy. i wouldn't touch the n97 with the mini out now anyway, way smaller than it's predecessor.

$999 for the N97...or $800 for a N900, what would you rather have?
That's what the Nokia N900 will cost me all up, after conversion and shipping, $800 NZ dollars, pretty sweet!

So what price did you pay on Amazon if you ordered yesterday?

I ordered at $549 which also includes a $50 mail-in rebate, so overall cost only $499 US.

Excellent turnaround...I think I ordered at just the right time.

Yeah that was my downfall ordering at just the wrong time.

Did Newegg three weeks ago no Phone order still on hold

Did Nokia US got charged no invoice or conf from Nokia US. Seems Vesa hold the money but Nokia have not accepted it yet, so there website was playing up at that time.

Im going to take my initial thoughts and do the opposite. Something might pay-off that way
