Blegh. Package got pinged by customs. It appears they weren't very happy with a parcel addressed to myself from myself (wtf Shipito?)

phone came in at $781, Shipping at $67 and I expect GST to be around $100

Mine was about $669 before adding shipping costs.

What happened with customs xlevus? How did you declare it?

Regards hardware/software issues - I've had none. I haven't done anything with the testing repositories yet though, and that may have something to do with it.

Amazon seems to have bumped their price back up to $797 USD again so for any potential customers I'd either wait and hope it drops again or go for Nokia USA for $569 USD. However they're out of stock again but seeing as it's Nokia, I doubt it'll be long between stock shipments.

My Amazon order (ordered 11 Dec) is still saying est. shipping date is 21st Dec & est. delivery date is 24th Dec. Fingers crossed it'll be sooner than that.

Was that a typo? If not, how the hell did yours end up being $100 cheaper than mine? I imagine the exchange rate didn't change much in the few days between when you got billed and I got billed.

I declared it as a "Cellphone - gift" with a value of US$600

I am guessing you paid tax then...

Declaring an item a 'gift' only allows tax free on the first $110...so being that you valued your item at US $600, that is the equivilant of $840 NZ, of which you would have had to pay tax on $730 NZ...= $91.25 NZ

Nah, still haven't paid GST yet, waiting on Fedex/Customs to tell me how much to pay. I'm cool with that, there was a chance to get the package pinged by customs, and me being the unluckiest sod alive ended up getting pinged. C'est la vie.

What I'm a little uncool about is how my bill from Amazon ended up being nearly NZ$100 more than NZTechfreak and maxximuscool. Despite our orders getting charged and shipped within days of each other. Are you guys counting the rebate and shipping? I'm not counting the rebate and shipping.

Dang, just got pinged by customs too. I declared it as merchandise value of USD 480. GST was about $97 so I think that may be applied to freight and the full value of USD 529. Was hoping it would sneak through but I wasn't going to declare it as being below NZD 400!

At least you're not the only one xlevus.

Good luck to the rest of you...
