I use a Dick Smith bluetooth dongle to sync my 6255 phone in to my office PC with Nokia PC Suite – so when I had an opportunity to own a 3com bluetooth dongle for home, I grabbed it, but it will not work!
From the PC bluetooth manager I can see the phone, and send a file to it, but Nokia PC manager says “cannot use the connection type” when I try to connect.
I am using Windows XP, and the dongle is a 3CREB96B.
Anyone got any ideas what to do next?

Sorry Radionut - the 3COM Bluetooth adapters are out of the market, virtually no support and they don't have the best software to work with...

Probably the same tips apply: check your personal firewall software, check for COM port conflicts and make sure you're using the correct COM port.

Hope someone else can help here.

Thanks for the note – does not give me much hope…firewall is disabled, and no settings seem to work. With the generic DSE dongle it just worked –select bluetooth, click connect, we were off…. With the 3com dongle – it won’t try.
Where are all those contributors who say bluetooth is marvelous? Maybe it is only some flavours of bluetooth? What a fussy protocol!
