Hey I just brought a Nokia e71x off trademe. It just arrived this morning and the guy I brought it from has just found out from his supplier that the phone is still locked to AT&T.

He said that this means I can't send pxts. I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are any other issues I will face.

Also does anyone know how to unlock this particular phone?

He has offered to buy the phone back off me so I can always do that if need be.

Might need to flash some non-carrier generic firmware perhaps. Have you gone into the connections settings and changed the pxt settings to XT? Or is this a no go?

Its not carrier locked or the XT SIM would not work at all in the handset

What happens when you try to add extra access points?

I'm testing it with a 2Degrees sim card at the mo.

I'll do a bit of research on adding the extra access points and get back to you I havn't tried that one yet.

And I will try use 2Degrees as the PXT prodivder.

Ah awesome. Thanks guys. Pxt came through fine.

Where abouts would I find the Telecom XT settings from? Or should I just take it into the shop for them to deal with?

Thanks

The E71x is a special modem E71 that was developed and released only by AT&T. It includes FP2 which has never been released in the firmware for any other E71 variants.

FP2 = Feature Pack 2, which is for S60 3rd edition.

Hi

The Telecom settings should be pushed to your phone when it first connects to the Network. If this didn't occur, you can call 0800 32 32 32 (prepaid) or *123 (postpaid) and they will send these to you. Otherwise PM me your number and I'll push them through for you.
