Just got a Vodafone LG GW300.

I tried to do email setup manually, but it asked too many hard questions, so I abandoned it.

Found a place on the Vodafone website which one can enter their email address and password and cellphone number, and it sends configuration to phone...

Did this, AFAIK everything was entered 100% right, however when I try to synchronise inbox (with email I presume), it takes 30 seconds and comes back connection failed.

Anyone help?

Yahoo email.

The VF auto setup thing asked is that: Yahoo! Ymail, to which I said yes. It then must have retreived all the details, and sent file to phone, which has set it up, but for some reason it doesn't appear to be automatically checking, and when I manually try, it fails.

Access points: VF WEB.

Called VF tech support, they were no help??
Apparently it is not going as I have not registered to my vodafone?

Just done that, if that is the critical reason its not going. It appears the net is working. Is there something in my vodafone I need to change as the guy I spoke to said there was and that is the reason its not going. But I think he was gunning at the thing I've already done (configure your mobile device thing).

Here are settings off Yahoos website:

Incoming mail server settings

?POP server: plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
?Use SSL
?Port: 995
Outgoing mail server (SMTP) settings

?SMTP server: plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
?Use SSL
?Port: 465
?Use authentication
?Account Name/Login Name: Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com", for example, ?testing80?)
?Email Address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (for example, testing80@yahoo.com)
?Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password

Whats written there differs to what the VF configurator set them to. But even if I change it to the above, still says connection failed.

Its quite frustrating. When I signed up to a Telecom data plan and had okta agent, it took 5 minutes to set it up, and it was running, with yahoo, hotmail, gmail, all just like that. But this phone, 4 hours of research and changing settings and still no action.

Issue is not related to my Vodafone registration or your internet access would not work

I have 3 choices for access point:

vfnz internet
vf web
vfnz gateway

I can scroll between them, but do not know if or how to edit them at it doesn't appear to give me the option.

VFNZ internet and VF web are the same thing just delete VF web

You only need 2 access points

Its not quite like that. It has a scrolling bar with only the 3 choices, no option to edit or remove, only to select just the one. Have changed it to vfnz internet, still wont connect (connection failed).

I know you only want to check Yahoo mail

smtp authentication: change to off
out going server address smtp2.vodafone.net.nz
keep out going port 25

The incoming settings can stay the same match them up to your PC

Also have you got internet access on the Vodafone side has this been checked?

John
