You can't do video calls in 2.5G coverage it has to be 3G and make sure you live in 3G coverage.

What part of NZ do you live in??

Check out 3G coverage areas on the vodafone.co.nz website

Here is the link for 3G coverage areas remember this is a guide only

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/coverage/3g/maps.jsp?image_id=1_1&item=3g

Also make sure the handset is switched to dual mode 2G/3G if you live in a 3G area (this is in the menu of the handset)

Remember the coverage map is a guide only and 3G coverage testing can only be done to the road its not tested in the houses and back yards.

Can I ask where you live and what suburb?
Also is the handset a import?

Has anyone around you got a 3G handset and have they got 3G coverage and does your SIM work in there handset

Cause the handset is a IMPORT you will not get much support from anybody thats the risk you take purchasing one

I have used my 3G handset many many times in New Lynn and surrounding areas with no issues and full 3G coverage.

So we can rule coverage issue out

Motorola NZ with not provide support for IMPORT handsets nor does Vodafone NZ.

Sounds like you have purchased a lemon

Why do you need to wait for a software update there are 100s of Motoroa V3X in NZ connecting to the 3G network
