hey, has anyone had a go with one of  these routers or does anyone know if they will work ok with Telecoms T3G network? I see the routers list the Sierra 580 card as being compatible so do you think it would be worth while importing one and trying it out?

Why import one? Telecom New Zealand has two models available (one we saw during the Geekzone Dinner last year and another brand launched earlier this year).

You might not find them through the retail stores, perhaps looking for Jama here in the forums, and he will tell you where to find it.

dont import CDMA gear into New Zealand... it just wont work, unless Telecom have tested and approved it.

[self edit: this only applies to devices with CDMA chipsets. on reading the OP properly I realise he was talking about a router...]

Hi dimsim
Renaissance Brands (http://shop.renaissance.co.nz/) bring in the TopGlobal (http://www.chinatopglobal.com/) 3G Phoebus(?). They also bring in the Sierra Wireless 580 and have tested these together. Talk to one of your local resellers about getting hold of one of these for you.

Yup, the DI-725 works fine.
Put the AC580 into the PCMCIA port of the router, then in your web browser set up user name and password and your away.
