If this helps, it's a 3.5mm jack... need a headset that has both sound and mic.

If you have 3.5mm jack then I would suggest Logitech

Either with inline remote and mic:

or without

I currently have the 'without' and they are great, I am planning to upgrade to the ones with the mic and remote next time they go on sale.

If you have some sort of proprietary jack ... well...

Thanks, i need a mic so the first one is the only option really.

$70 for a headset? That's almost 1/3 the price as my whole phone which came with a headset (which i lost)

Yeah, headsets are a way of making money for somebody.

I don't know what your former headset was like but most reviews of most phones I have read basically say bundled headsets are rubbish.

You can get cheaper headsets, I personally upgraded to the Logitech set I mentioned from a $15 Sony set and very much notice the difference.

Mind you, I had a guy at a specialist audio shop tell me a set of $500 [yeah, five hundred dollars] ear buds (yep, the kind you stick in your ears not over the head cans) without any fancy active noise cancellation were 'totally worth it' as the sound was 'that good'.

Opportunity cost I guess.

Depending on how long you want to wait Dick Smith often brings the $70 set down to $50 or you could find them on-line somewhere.
