A friend recently lost his 2degrees phone and upon contacting 2degrees he was told they will not block IMEIs of lost or stolen phones. This didn't seem right to me so I suggested he log it being missing with the police and follow it up with 2degrees.

But this raises some questions about this...
What's the standard procedure a customer should follow for when a phone is lost?
Will reporting it lost or stolen with the police be required or necessary for this?
Does 2degrees entirely refuse to block IMEIs of lost or stolen phones as my friend was advised? What about vodafone and telecom?
Is it possible to have the phone blocked from all NZ networks, or only the one that you are with? if only the network you are on can be blocked, that's not much use...
Vodafone refused entirely when he asked them this question.

Just after information on this.

Both Telecom and Vodafone have a blacklist of IMEI's and my understanding is that this data is shared between both carriers and has been since not long after the launch of XT.

Vodafone NZ and Telecom XT have active EIRs

Vodafone NZ has had one in place for about 10 - 11 years

Does anyone know if it's possible to get a 2degrees phone onto this list?
what happens when a phone is reported as lost or stolen to police, is it added to this list?

No it will not be added to the list automatically but it can be added with a Police report and the INFO faxed to a team in Vodafone, INFO is on the Vodafone NZ site including the Fax number and I am sure Telecom NZ would do the same, But no point blacklisting on Telecom XT unless the handset supports WCDMA 850mhz
