I'm off to buy an IrDA thing for my computer so I can transfer s*#t to my phone. $54 at DSE, but you need the pin header on your MB. There are CD's for sale on Trade Me with thousands of ringtones, images and games etc. for pretty cheap. Hurray I wont have to pay telecom $3.50 for a ringtone again!

"I still keep an old Vfone so I can txt my friends overseas because Telecoms network supports so few two-way textable countries"

Telecom have a soultion to this, they have got a soultion with InphoMatch for 2 way texting to almost any GSM, CDMA and some old TDMA networks world wide. Same as what Verizon in the states and Vodafone in Aussie have done I understand.

So that is going to be fixed 1st Half this year.

Inphomatch is like a clearing house for SMS, transversing messages across incompatible networks. Vodafone is rolling out this worldwide, mainly because of Verizon CDMA in the US (currently 45% Vodafone owned).

Other companies use Inphomatch services as well, including Telecom NZ.

someone mentioned a 'workaround' for MMS on 6585's in an earlier post. Could you please elaborate? I'm very interested

workaround -

for recieve
either a wap push with the mms content, or a sms-ed link that take you to a wap2/xhtml site.

for send, upload content using wap2 browser to a webserver that does the sending for you.

nothing fancy, just combines older technologies to get he same end result.

Sandubas, check again what JaBZ said. I'm in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil also and here the option was left intact...only problem is that if you try to send, it will say "Message Service not subscribed" or something like that...call VIVO and check it out, ask them about enabling it and see if it costs anything =P

Hi
It clear things up , MMS was not release on this handset do to Nokia could not get the software build to work and did not want to market the plug-in camera, Also Telecom did not want a Plug-in camera solution as a MMS handset, there are no plans to upgrade the 6585 or the 3105 to support MMS. Also IR was tested and work correctly in the testing process, you should just use the windows default IR drivers for this.
