have just had this odd problem, possibly due to a recent update, where Outlook 2007 complains upon opening about the SSL cert when connecting to Outlook.com

it simply seem to fail because *.outlook.co.nz isnt one of the SAN's in the SSL cert.

has anyone else seen this recently?

I've not seen this, but thought to check whether you had seen notifications that Outlook 2007 support is being dropped in October.

This notification is about Office365 mailboxes, but likely applied to Outlook.com mailboxes as well.

Thanks knew this must have been close to happening, but it has been working perfectly up until a day or so. Troubleshooting shows that the .co.nz is simply missing fomr the SSL cert and hence the error. I dont think it related to Office 2007 specifically.

See the error here

and these are the SAN's from the cert

DNS Name=*.clo.footprintdns.com
DNS Name=*.hotmail.com
DNS Name=*.internal.outlook.com
DNS Name=*.live.com
DNS Name=*.office.com
DNS Name=*.office365.com
DNS Name=*.outlook.com
DNS Name=*.outlook.office365.com
DNS Name=attachment.outlook.live.net
DNS Name=attachment.outlook.office.net
DNS Name=attachment.outlook.officeppe.net
DNS Name=ccs.login.microsoftonline.com
DNS Name=ccs-sdf.login.microsoftonline.com
DNS Name=hotmail.com
DNS Name=mail.services.live.com
DNS Name=office365.com
DNS Name=outlook.com
DNS Name=outlook.office.com
DNS Name=substrate.office.com

Just looks like little old NZ has been forgotten

Hmmmmm  @nathan might be able to suggest the appropriate contacts to have this looked at.  If for some reason it only affects 2007 then you might be out of luck.

thanks for looping me in.

I just forwarded your analysis and screenshot to someone on the Outlook.com team up here in Redmond, who should know what's going on here

Cheers
Nathan

I can say this happened for Australia as well, as a friend asked me in the weekend about this whether if I do know what could be the issue.
