Hi Folks

I have a TIVO that is about 12 - 14 months old.  I got it from telecom during a promotion early last year.  As there was no Freeview UHF service in my area until recently, the machine basically remained turned off in the cabinet.  However, we now have the service and  I am starting to use the device but I find the 'Tivo" button doesn't seem to work on the remote  (not the batteries I replaced them).  The light flashes on the remote when the button is pressed but rarely is received by the Tivo.    Is there anything i can do about this or simply forget that I have a tivo or can I swop / buy  another remote?  Bit difficult to use the otherwise excellent Tivo without the remote working 100%.

This seems to be a common problem with the tivo remotes, ring telecom maybe they will replace it, if not there are plenty of remotes on trademe, alternativly you can get a harmony remote that will also work the tivo and tv and whatever else you have

I rang the 0800MYTIVO service number which is still just answered by Telecom Broadband Helpdesk when my 18 month old remote failed a few weeks back. Quickly agreed to replace it with a new one which arrived about 2 days later free of charge, including a pre-paid courier bag to send the faulty one back.

Thanks for your replies.  I rang Telecom this morning and after a simple remote reset, which didn't help, I was told by a very helpful lady that another remote was on the way complete with courier bag to return the faulty one.  Excellent service, I am very impressed.
