FlanManNZ:

Did the hdd patch tonight without any issue.

Is there a good guide somewhere to all the unlocked features and how to use etc ?    Especially the 30 second skip.

Also, if the mothership is still active, how does one know that its getting the guide from elseware ?   Just out of curiosity ?

Also saw some new menu options, one being a dial code which said all 0's, I didn't enter in anything.

The dial code on mine is 000 as well after patching. Should we change it to the new code ?

I'm baffled as to what to do with our main 2tb tivo stuck on 11.3b6-xxx

I have not applied any mods to it yet. The recordings it has are still quite extensive even though we have had a huge cleanout.

I know I can easily resolve it by re imaging the drive to 11.3b10-xxx but not only will I loose all the programs but also HNP capability.

I think I saw mentioned 'clive100' "Presumably" updated  from 11.3b6-xxx which gave me hope but still no success.

May just have to resign to wiping everything and losing HNP.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Have you tried going into messages & settings, settings, network, connect to the tivo service now. Let it do it’s thing, then do a restart via the tivo menu, and then repeat the connect to tivo service. Then leave for 24hrs.

As I had the same problem 2 yr ago After I replaced the hdd with an old image.

Things still seem to be up as I did a manual connect just now.

I have been trying every combination I can think of, Multiple connect to service and reboots. Although the connect to service is fairly brief and I never get the 'restart pending' notification.

I've also tried redoing guided setup with connect to service and currently trying delete program information and to do list followed by restarts and connect to service (Always 2-3 times).

All just short of delete everything and start again.

Giving me hope though sharing your experience. It may still work yet!

The network connection should take at least 15 mins to complete, if its instant, its not syncing properly.

Under System Information, is the Tivo Service Level saying C:-   &    TivoToGo saying a,a,a     &   Tivo Account Status saying product lifetime.

As when I did the HDD swap, I had this problem ie network connection was instant, and eventually I had guide issues etc.   The above mentioned settings I didn't have.

When I contacted the tivo helpdesk at the time, they said my box had got out of sync and they had to force a re-sync on my account at their end.    Once they did that, I was all good.

Thus unfortunately, I wonder if thats your problem.

Just checked: Account status 5: Product Lifetime service,   Service level C: 120217   Tivo to go a,a,a,

Seems normal?

I found it always shows 000, It does not seem to show the current state, More so for changing the dial in code. I think you will find the current state in the 'System Information'

Possibly not as mine says C:- for service level, ie no 120217. But I could be wrong without knowing what the difference means.

I believe 000 is the old mothership and 140 is the new mothership. the patch would have already changed it to 140.

I found this on the 30 second skip:

https://www.weaknees.com/30/

I have not tried this feature yet.

Any chance they could enable HD output over component   which was disable on the versions we got despite the box saying it was HD over component??

EDIT: NOW CLAIMED
I have a TiVo that I no longer want (Rotorua). It has had a clear/delete run on it today, and is sitting at the 'guided setup' screen. Happy to donate this to someone who can still get some use from it, as I have no plans to do the mod myself. Includes TiVo wireless adapter and original remote.

Would prefer pickup, as I don't get into town very often to post this. However, If you were willing to wait a few weeks I could post at your expense.

EDIT: NOW CLAIMED

50% success rate for me today on my two tivos..

Cutting the chip legs with a knife really is the easiest way to remove the old chip.. then a few mins with a soldering iron to remove the leg remains and removal is done.

My second tivo didn't start back up (just a black screen), so I went to recheck all of my solder joints on my socket. During the process of removing the chip from the socket I ended up ripping the socket, and pads, from the PCB.. Fail...

:-(

All may not be lost, if you get a pcb pen from jaycar.co.nz you can redraw the circuit parts back on.

Btw, without seeing the underside or a wiring diagram, I don’t think all the pads are actually used.

Yeah I got none. Very frustrating as I have a pile of TiVos here with sockets fitted, just waiting for the chips. If they aren't here by Monday I'm going to assume they went missing and get some sent via tracked post.

How many do you need to tide you over with the Tivo's you have sitting around?

I just went into "My Tivo Account" today and it is officially closed with a big red stamp on it saying "Service is Closed".  This must've happened just very recently because I was in it a few days ago after the 31 October.  My question is, I have been offered a tivo, and I want to connect it to my other tivos with my HNP so it too will have my Media Access Key.

How can I do that now, as the tivo will have to be deactivated from the original owner's tivo account and reactivated to my tivo account, but that service is now closed.  There is no tivo account now or does it not matter now.  What does one do?

Is it still possible for me to give this new tivo I'm getting my Media Access Key, is there another way round this.  At the moment I have not done anything to my tivos as yet, so everything is just the same.

Right now I can still transfer from tivo to tivo or tivo to pc, I'm transferring something right now as I type this up, so that feature is still functioning perfectly, which I thought it wouldn't when the My Tivo Account was no longer an inaccessible.

I I plug in and powerup this new tivo onto my home net work, will it work, but how can my other tivos recognise it?

All machines must have the same media access key to transfer recordings between them. You cannot add or remove machines now as the Interface into your account has been closed down. The official Tivo service is still running with limited capability, as of yesterday at least to allow download of the latest official software and maybe some guide updates (unconfirmed) but this is as good as it gets. It was stated that the server would be there with limited capability, for a limited time, but the party's almost over folks. Some time in the future, (you never know), something maybe able to be done about your situation. Leading up until the 31st October, if you emailed Hybrid and gave them the service number of a new Tivo you'd bought used, they would deactivate it and add it to your account if you asked nicely, but I'm pretty sure it's too late now.

Today I picked up my two Tivo units from rphenix, having had the new chip and software patch installed on both. Big thanks to Robert for doing this work for me, and to everybody else who has made this all possible. Following the instructions I found via the link to the OzTivo site, I cleared the program info from one of the units, then connected to the new mothership, by setting the dial code to 140. The connection appeared to be made OK, and I received the "Welcome to OzTivo" message, but there is no guide data. I noticed that the step where the information is loaded went very quickly, whereas usually this would take quite a while.

Any suggestions as to what may be wrong here? Seems like setting the connection code to 140 doesn't stick, as when you go back to it, it has reverted to 000. Though as I say above, I received the welcome message, so it must have connected to the correct server.

You do not have to manually change the dial code to 140. If you check system information it should be 140 already, assuming the software has been patched. What's confusing is that if you go to Backdoor and choose dial code, the setting you'll see in front of you is 000 (the old other mothership) If you then choose 000, that's what gets used until rebooting, when it'll go back to 140 "The OzTivo mothership".

Try connecting manually from the network menu, and if all else fails, go to Clear and Reset, and choose to delete Program Data and To Do List (only). That won't delete your existing recordings. Next, try connecting via the network menu again.
