Frenzyshadow:

Has anyone else noticed that the Tivo EPG stops for many of the channels after this coming Friday (21 December).  There is still an EPG for Bravo, Bravo+1 and a few other channels like Choice, Te Reo, Duke and Al Jazeera but TV2, 2+1, Maori, Prime and some others show nothing .  TV1 and TV3 (and the plus 1s) show only News programmes after Friday.  This is the same on all three of my Tivos.

There was a similar problem a few weeks ago that was solved before the data ran out. I've passed on this latest situation to the developers which I suspect will be solved before next Friday.

Here is an important message from the developers in relation to the TiVo EPG and some issues we've seen lately with EPG. If someone can help, please PM me with email contact details so that some improvements can be made here. This is outside my area of expertise.

" The system takes data from upstream xml sources. We do not acquire that data, just download it and process it. Its a risk. I am pretty sure I have mentioned this to you before (also about seeing if someone in the community can run EPGCollector or some other tool).
We need a stable xml feed .. I note sometimes data simply doesn’t come through because whoever is capturing it is .. away? machine is off? who knows.
This looks to be the case now with epg.org.nz (freeview.xml.gz) offline, and was probably the case the other times you mentioned it as well. Perhaps someone on Geekzone knows where we can get some stable feeds of xml programme data?
I also only have data to Friday - but that is not a function of the slicing system which is generating output - it just looks to have no input. ("

Thanks, I passed this one on earlier today, and another very helpful Geekzoner has given us a very good lead. Hopefully normal reception will be resumed before too long.

Thanks to those involved in getting the EPG working again.  It seems to be all OK now (perhaps using a new source?).

The original source became available again, so EPG is back. Everyone's EPG should be populated at their next auto-connection, or you can manually connect now. I'm waiting to hear whether the new sources will be able to be used to help redundancy. Hopefully yes :-)

My modded tivo is stuck on powering up screen looks to be a hard drive failing. Can I make a back up using the old Wimfs method here https://www.instructables.com/id/Increase-disk-space-in-a-TiVo/ or will this mess with the mod and software give this guide was pre tivo closure.

If this doesn’t work does anyone have a link to a new method thanks.

yes, provided the hard drive can still be accessed by the PC when connected, alternatively there is both an un-upgraded and an upgraded version of the current software available to put on your new HDD

If your original disk is failing, you may not be able to take a reliable image of it. If you need a new pre-modified image that you can use with winmfs, PM me and I'll give you a link to one in my Dropbox that I've created.   When booted, you'll be confronted with the standard guided setup choice of Australia/New Zealand. Agree to the terms and choose the option that you have already activated your Tivo and you should be good to go.
