Hi everyone
Just setup Tivo, and I cannot see anywhere, a meter or guide on available space left. My MySky has a % which is fine, does Tivo have any indication of space or time or %?

Cheers
Tony

In a word, no.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

A much requested feature, but never implemented for some reason. You can use an application like KMTTG on your PC point it at your TiVo and that will tell you, but yeah not great ... I know

Tks for the info, that shows disk used, that will need to do. Can KMTTG be used for other NZ Tivo tasks such as transferring? My only PC related need is PC to Tivo.
Cheers and tks again

Ack, I hate admitting there is anything wrong with TiVo, but this seems like such a basic feature to be missing.
Only when my Suggestions folder goes to 0 do I know that the drive must be full.

Hopefully with an update one day...

Cheers,
Joseph

kmttg can be used for tranferring recorded files off your TiVo and it will search for pre-defined criteria and automatically copy it across for you. It you want to archive files in non-TiVo encrypted format you will need VideoToGo 4 which has H.264 decoding, then you can decrypt the TS stream into a normal MP4.

If you need support for kmttg go to tivocommunity.com he the dev recoded his latest version when I alerted him to the fact the NZ TiVos were dumping the files down in a different MPEG format, so you need to set this in the options.

Hi uktuatara
Tks for your info opn my thread, valuable to me, as my issue now I have Tivo up and running, is the issue transferring TV from PC to Tivo. It is poor. A 700Mb Divx or Xvid 90 minute TV program transferred in about that time (thats ok), but the transcoded quality was poor, as if the res had been dropped heavily to reduce file size, but the file size on the Tivo box was 4.5Gb. It seems I need to re-encode myself, then transfer.

I will see what happens on a H.264 mkv downloaded in HD, but will try VideoToGo4

Cheers

Tony

PS My Tivo won't recover undeleted files, strange for a new device.

I still have an outstanding task on me to do a step by step post on how to get the best from transferring files and re-encoding to get maximum quality. I will try and do it next week ... been a little slack recently :)
