Well I've hit a wall and can't do it so perhaps someone can help.

I've installed Tivo Desktop 2.8.2 on my PC and set my music folder in the "Music Photos and Video" tab.

When I turn the Tivo on and go to Tivo Central / Music Video and Show cases, I can see all the network stuff like "weather" and "Suduko" and I get a line "My Music on MY-PC". This tells me the Tivo is seeing the desktop (but not the music folder) on my network. When I select this option the Tivo goes off to find it but ends up with the main showcases menu again.

Trouble is there is no wee TV icon on the right of this line - so this tells me there's some kind of network connection problem

I have installed Galleon and SuperSync and these two applications give me access to the music folder via Tivo so I know the Tivo can pick the music through the firewall.

I don't have a Media Access Key - not stumping up the cash for this until I an get the Tivo Desktop to work.

Any ideas?

Don't you have to have a MAK before this will work?

I think I only need a MAK to transfer Tivo recordings to my PC or video files from my PC to the Tivo. I thought music and photos could go to the Tivo without the MAK. I stand to be corrected!
