Mate, just go back to page 1 of this thread and start reading!
You can join everyone else who has asked the same questions....

TiVo is great value as it includes a wireless adapter and offers an online way to book tv shows to record etc. It's one of the few non freeview approved units that includes series link. All good stuff for the price!

mrkgoo: My local Noel leering is selling Tivo 320s for $99 clearance.

I'm notentirely sure what they are... I don't have a freew view tv - at the very least could I use it as a 'freeview'converter for my non free view tv? Could I still record digital TV? I assume you need broadband to get epg...(electronic programme guide?).

What is Caspa? Do you HAVE to sign up to it? Is there any subscription to TiVo services?

Whats the home networking package? Do you have to get it?

Thanks!

I called into the Albany, Auckland branch of Noel Leeming this morning.  They had stock, but no way were they going to drop below $299. However, if we knew the actual branch in Auckland that was selling at $99 they may price match. Their sales records don't show any sales at $99 at any branch, so can someone shine some more light on this?

I'm looking into a TiVo a freeviewHD decoder but haven't seen it for less than $299 up here in Whangarei, where is it on special in NZ? Or was it just a Christmas special? Will definitely grab one if they ever go for $99!

just a couple of times been on special at $199.   Honestly even at $299 it is a great buy.   I never realised how wonderful they were until I bought mine and havent regretted it.

The more I read the more it sounds like a good solid PVR to me so will definitely be getting one, especially when the wife can see how easy it is to use Wink

Don't forget - just because the advertised price is $299, it is unlikely this is the best price NL or B&B will give you on the TiVo. As I documented earlier on GZ (either this thread or elsewhere in the TiVo forum), I went in and asked for their best price - both were willing to do it for $249. (Do note that I did hit issues with one store not able to enter this override price in the system, but the other (B&B) had staff which knew how to do it.) Of course, in my case they went back to $199 10 days later, but them's the breaks!

Bond & Bond and Noel Leeming now have them back on their sites as online purchases at $299. Maybe they got some more stock? Never heard any more about that $99 special. I wonder if it ever existed?

Hman3434: anything I should know

As mentioned back a bit, it may take a day for your new account to register properly etc.  Just something to keep in mind.

Yeah took about 12hrs for mine to be active once I got it but after that its fine.

Have recently connected it to my amp via optical, but for some reason the volume coming out the tivo is really quiet.  Any ideas?  With my amp on say a loud volume like 20, when I switch to the TV its really quiet and I have to whack up the volume just to hear it.   Can only find a menu option for sound effects volume.

Maybe try switching the optical output between Dolby or DTS or PCM or whatever the choices are. I don't the output myself.

I found I needed a new optical cable for use with TiVo. My last recorder worked fine with the old cable, but not TiVo?!

For clarity, I was referring to the Noel lemming outlet centre. They had about 10 of them on clearance for $99. I called back earlier in the week and asked more carefully and they told they were refurbished units with 3 months warranty. Given the shaky history of some units, I gave it a pass.

Thanks for the clarification. That explains why regular NL stores had no knowledge of this. I wonder if there are still any left?
