So I have Adobe PS CS5 ... and it turns out the RAW files from new Canons don't work on ACR!

There is no workaround is there? Bought a cheap canon 700D

I don't know if this is of any use for you (don't know what ACR is), but I use Photoshop CS2 with my 600D, and have to convert RAW files to DNG format, Adobe have a tool for this here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5738

thanks - I guess that could be one way, but I tend to plug in the SD card and PS away ... *sigh - will have to learn to use Lightroom ...

The DNG converter is exactly what you want. Download the CR2 files, convert to DNG, CS5 will read DNG files fine. I'm still on CS6, works fine, I don't like subscription software.
